What medical conditions mean access to anti-virals?

I received an email from the NHS last week saying that due to a medical condition that I have, I would be eligible for anti-virals if I test positive for COVID.

It didn't specify which condition it is that I have, and I haven't had any new conditions diagnosed since the start of COVID.

I can only imagine they have widened their criteria, and the only condition I have is hypothyroid (which is well controlled with medication).

Any ideas? Is it that?! I've had COVID twice already with no mention of medication then so it must be a new inclusion? Or maybe a mistake?

Headline policy here

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-care-and-treatments-for-coronavirus/treatments-for-coronavirus/

More detailed info here

www.gov.uk/government/publications/higher-risk-patients-eligible-for-covid-19-treatments-independent-advisory-group-report/defining-the-highest-risk-clinical-subgroups-upon-community-infection-with-sars-cov-2-when-considering-the-use-of-neutralising-monoclonal-antibodies

Do bear in mind that only around 13% of the potentially eligible actually get the drugs.

If you are severely immune suppress, you might want to support the campaign for Evusheld for the UK. It's a prophylaxis for those who do not respond to vaccination (v similar group to those eligible for advanced treatments post-exposure) and UK is unique in being the only country which has decided on making that drugs available to reject it. We're flying in the face of international consensus and DHSC promised to publish reasons for it's decision, and 3 weeks on we're still waiting

Thanks @nether for posting that. I've just read the document and in particular the conditions that put people at highest risk and I don't have any of them? I'm not immuno suppressed (unless the GP knows something I don't?!). I can only imagine it's a mistake?

But thanks for the info about the campaign as well. I'll take a look.
