Were your symptoms the same each time?

I'm about day 5 of second covid - I somehow thought it wouldn't be as bad but I feel rank

Currently on 2 nd covid, have had a fever and chills, cough and sore throat, not feeling great but not really ill. First time had really sore head and brain fog but no other symptoms. First time think it would have been delta ( late October 21) this time I am assuming Omicron.

I caught Covid 2 a year almost to the day after I had the first infection
Both very different
Covid 1 - exhausted and lost smell. So exhausted!
Covid 2 - started with a sore throat progressing to a temperature and now I just feel queasy all the time and have lots of phlegm and crusty throat

Phrenologistsfinger · 05/09/2022 23:45

First time was moderately bad, then jabs x3 second very mild, third absolutely awful (high fever for days, bone pains and laid up for a month)!

0pheIiaBalls · 07/09/2022 08:45

I've had it six times. I've been asymptomatic once, really quite unwell twice (first infection in March 2020 and second to last in March this year) but not ill enough to need hospital or anything. The other three infections were very mild, like a short lived cold.

fuckfuckfuck2021 · 07/09/2022 15:16

I've had it twice the first time sept 2020 I was ok but had fever cough sore throat muscle and joint pain and an upset tummy. Fully recovered 10 days after symptoms started . Second time august 2022 I had a headache from hell and aches and shivers. I was also exhausted. Tested negative on day 5 cough started on day 6! Been a month now since I tested positive and I'm still so so tired. I'm struggling with work as my legs hurt and I feel so tired. While the covid second time round was easier and I was less I'll I'm taking so much longer to recover!

fuckfuckfuck2021 · 07/09/2022 15:20

Actually I forgot I had it December 2021 as well! Totally asymptomatic! Only found out through lft as I had to test for work!

GuerlainHo · 07/09/2022 15:21

Covid 4 times so far and each time; the first symptom was pounding headache/ dizzy spells.

Sniffypete · 07/09/2022 15:28

First time, cough that lasted for weeks, my neck and ribs hurt too. - December 2019

2nd, sore throat, a little snotty - October 2021

3rd, sickness and diarrhoea, tiredness - Feb 2022

Handsnotwands · 07/09/2022 15:31

Covid 1 in delta times was snotty, achey, tired, v sore throat

covid 2 was quite mild, like a normal cold

covid 3 currently 2 weeks in, feel awful, v bad cough / chest, totally shattered. Hanging around a long time

sonjadog · 07/09/2022 21:39

I had the same symptoms both times, but was sicker the first time. Not really sick, but I couldn’t look at a computer screen for more than ten minutes and slept a lot for the first week. The second time I painted my decking and did gardening from day one. However, the second time the recovery dragged on for weeks. It took about a month until I felt like myself again. Although with hindsight, it might have gone quicker if I had done less DIY and gardening that first week…

I’m currently positive for the second time and both infections have been different.

First time, in January this year, I had probably two hours of feeling awful (aching limbs, headache, aching burning eyes, couldn’t get warm) and had a nap and woke up feeling pretty much back to normal.

I tested positive again on Friday although I’d had negative tests on Tuesday and Thursday. Symptoms started last Monday and by Tuesday I had an awful cough and sore throat, couldn’t get warm (it was 20°, I was wearing a thick cardigan and still felt cold) and on Thursday I pretty much slept from 9am until 3pm. Since Friday I’ve had a blocked yet runny nose and blocked ears.

For the record, I had first and second doses of the AZ vaccine, a Pfizer booster last October and a further Pfizer booster in May ‘22.

Covid 1 - no taste or smell, sinus issues, unable to swallow properly, brain fog, fatigue, joint pain, fatigue (all still continuing 1 year later) loss of bladder control, sore throat, palpitations and fever all went within 2 or 3 months.

Covid 2 - aches, pains, sinus issues, headache, fatigue, swollen glands, nausea, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, cough....so far.

RoseAndVioletSims · 18/09/2022 13:27

Covid 1 in March 2020 was pretty rough. Extreme body pain for 5 days, breathing issues from day 8, exhaustion for months and change in sense of smell. Barely any high temp. Hit 38 max.

Covid 2 in March 2022 was very bad sore throat followed by mild nausea for a week and laryngitis.
No temp, no cough.

No vaccines whatsoever. Asthmatic but otherwise generally healthy.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 19/09/2022 18:16

Covid 1 January this year. Fairly mild symptoms but had my booster 12 weeks before. Felt recovered in the 10 day quarantine period. Took another couple of weeks to be 100% stamina wise on exertion like weightlifting.

Covid 2 right now. I’m 10 days post positive test and I still feel rotten. This time round it was flu like whereas before was more cold. Still lots of congestion. Last booster was October last year.

Both times my early symptoms were sore throat and excessive sneezing.

Bunnycat101 · 20/09/2022 21:54

Covid 1 - 2020 vintage pre vaccination. Knocked us for six. Started with a sore throat and then a mega cough and exhaustion (not helped my having 2 under 4 and 14 days of isolation). Lost sense of smell as well and was a bit emotionally all over the place. I felt quite unhinged tbh but I don’t know if that was the unknown and fear at the time as much as the illness.

covid 2- now. Started with the same very dry sore throat. Cough intermittent but not main symptoms. I’d say more of a cold. Feeling a bit more tired as not sleeping well and cough seems to come at night when lying down. No changes to sense of smell.

covid 2 feels much easier just because we’re not all locked in a house together. I remember the fear of running out of food and especially milk for our 1yo. We managed to get a delivery slot a week in and it felt like we’d won the lottery. I just remember crying with relief.
