Hi all, new here but found reading your comments re Covid comforting as we all go through it together. I tested positive 8 days ago, waiting for that elusive negative result. However I am still clogged up with catarrh in my sinues and ears, it seems to not be going very quickly. Anyone else suffering with the congestion or is it me? Also, those who are now negative, how long did you have to wait until you got there? Seems like some go within a few days and others have to wait a long while.

Are you testing for a specific reason?

Some people hardly get symptoms, some are poorly for a while. I wouldn’t obsess about it and just get back to normal when you feel better.

Yes testing so I can see my elderly relatives again. I have two that are considered at risk therefore I am taking personal responsibility to ensure their safety.

Ah I see. I would steer well clear for a few more days then if you are still feeling rough. I would assume that symptoms would mean it can be passed on, regardless of the test result as it isn’t 100% accurate.

Hope you feel better soon.

Took me 13 days to test negative but still tired and snotty on day 15 😫 This is my 2nd time.

I'm on day 6 and tested to see how fast the stripe would come up (fairly fast and dark!). I know guidelines say that after 5 full days from start of symptoms/test, you could go back out there but it doesn't sit right. I wouldn't say I have 'active' symptoms now though - dizziness and tiredness and muzzy head, but no headaches/body aches/fever/sneezing/nasal congestion, and the cough is a very occasional thing now. So who knows if I'm still shedding active virus??

The guidance is not based on science.... research show most people are infectious for ten days or more.
