Achey knees still!

Had covid back in March and had horrendous aches in knees, ankles, hands and feet... But since then every so often I'll get achey knees and feet again, is this long covid? Anyone else had it, will the joint aches go away at some point or is this it?!
Should add, I'm late 20s and never had joint pain until covid .

I had covid about three weeks ago feeling fine in myself now, but my kness are agony.

Squirrelsnut · 16/08/2022 12:14

I had covid 6 weeks ago and my legs ache pretty much constantly at the minute.

I still get joint pains when I am not feeling great. I had covid in March too and just see it as being the way it is going to be from now on!

Years ago I had flu which gave me very achy knees. After I had recovered for months afterwards if I got very tired or had a bit of a sniffle my knees and elbows wold ache again. It eventually got less and less over time and after about 5 months had completely gone.

BTW I know covid isn't flu but for any pedants who may be reading this I think a similar principal applies.

Also having had both flu and covid from my expereince both illnesses have very similar symptoms, although flu was much worse and took longer to get over and I was 10 years younger when I had it!!

Annoying, but also vaguely reassuring that I'm not alone, I don't know anyone else who's had joint pain lingering like this...

Had anyone found exercise helps? I was wondering if swimming might help as gentle movement or if that would make them eel more inflamed?

I had Delta back in October and I feel it triggered a chronic ache in my hips, pelvis and knees. I did have some issues there before and there's arthritis in my family, but it was very sudden onset. I'm still waiting to see a physio about it. The pain is sometimes so bad when walking that I limp - on both legs! And the day after a good long walk (even if the walk was ok) is agony.

I currently have Covid and I'm dreading even more chronic pain. Sad

I've still got achey legs four or five weeks on. I have been resting as much as possible but it has really ruined my summer. I am wondering now if it would be a very bad idea just to take nurofen and get on with my life.

Mumofboy93 · 20/08/2022 23:41

@DeborahVance I've had to take ibuprofen some days as I've got a little boy to chase after. Not sure if that's the right thing to do or not but I've had some days the pain is so bad I can't get out of bed otherwise 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Mumofboy93 it's awful isn't it. My kids are older but I'm fed up at having missed so much with them this summer

goldenbag · 22/09/2022 21:58

I was just wondering how everyone is getting on? I've had achey knees, feet and elbows since covid in May! Are others seeing any improvement?

Mumofboy93 · 23/09/2022 07:50

A bit random, some days I have no pain at all, and then others I can't bend my ankles or knees in the morning again! But on the whole, an improvement. How about you @goldenbag ?

@Mumofboy93 very up and down, likewise. It's so weird. Like you, I just want to be my usual active self.

I clicked on this thread due to the title. I've been debating making a Drs appointment due to my badly aching knees that have been bad for a few months. As I'm in my 50s I just assumed I'm developing arthritis or something but now I'm wondering, as I had Covid back in June. Sometimes my hips too, or my wrists, but mostly my knees.

SleepingAgent · 23/09/2022 17:12

Yes! I had Covid in June, and I still get aches in my thighs and hips. It's so annoying. I feel like a much older woman when I try to get out of bed in the morning. It's better once I've showered and moved a bit.

I think I would be wondering about early onset arthritis...there are lots of sorts but it's generally an autoimmune disorders so it can be brought on by infection (postulated but not conclusively proven) so I would definitely get it checked out.

I've been checked out for that @Augend23
