So I had COVID several weeks ago and after I recovered I started getting dizzy spells and feeling unbalanced for a short while. GP has done basic tests and thinks it is post viral.
So how long am I likely to feel like this or hiw long have people felt like this ]please? Thank you

Can last ages, can dissappear quickly. I'm at 18 months and still have it, but I know of others who only had it for a few weeks.

Jules912 · 02/08/2022 16:11

I did, still feel a bit lightheaded if I do too much 5 months on.

Sleeplessinthesouth71 · 02/08/2022 16:13

Thank you for replies. Sorry to those still suffering . Guess it is a wait snd see situation.

A little bit, yes. For me it passed after about a week. My doc said post-viral too.

FrownedUpon · 02/08/2022 17:38

Yes-Four months now. It’s horrendous & I now have anxiety as well.

BewareTheLibrarians · 02/08/2022 18:06

It can be post viral dizziness, but if it goes on for longer it’s worth asking your gp to check for POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) as viruses can trigger this. The “good” news is that is if is POTS there are treatments which make it easier to live with.

I might be completely wrong but I always like to make people aware of it as gps sometimes don’t connect the two, and living with ongoing dizziness can be pretty debilitating.

I had mild dizziness on and off for the first 18 months, gone now.

Foreverbaffled · 02/08/2022 21:47

Lightheaded and dizzy here a month on. Not vertigo dizzy just feeling hazy and unsteady. Hoping it passes soon, total nightmare. Thinking of you.

Yes I've got dizziness since about April, had mild Covid in March which seemed to completely resolve then dizziness came on. I've been to doctor, they think my inner ear has been affected. I can still do yoga, exercise classes etc so I'm not too bothered but have to be careful on stairs, in the shower and if I turn my head suddenly. I don't have it lying down. It's more of a gentle rocking than a spinning, like being on a ferry.
I've adapted to it now. If it goes, it goes. If not i can live with it.
I have referral to ENT which will probably take a year.

I had covid last month and have had some dizziness also. This podcast might be worth a listen for anyone suffering with post covid symptoms overcast.fm/+PIo_jLC0I

I'm so up and down in terms of energy and fatigue/feeling off, but hoping it calms down soon. I felt similar for a good month or so after I had it in January too, so just trying to look after myself. I hope everyone else suffering feels better soon too

Victoriangirl1900 · 05/08/2022 18:30

I had covid 2 weeks ago I went back to work on day 6, My boss said I can go back after 5 days even when test is positive. It was on a very hot day I started serving the children their dinner when I started feeling faint. People reckon it was the heat and covid that made me faint.

Crikeyalmighty · 05/08/2022 18:32

Had it mildly for around 3 weeks post covid- but had it horrendously during covid- it was my worst symptom along with a banging headache

Madhairday · 06/08/2022 14:14

Yes. One month on now and so much dizziness, often when I try to stand my head starts spinning and I feel like I'm going to faint.

Covid does horrible things. I hope you feel better soon OP.
