First negative - when can I come out?

Currently isolating. First negative was at 10am today on Day 8. Hurrah!
Do I do another test same time tomorrow and if that's also negative then I can come out immediately? Or wait for the day to end.

I realise I need two negatives, just unclear as to timings.

You can go out whenever you want. There is no legal requirement to isolate or test at any point. It's up to you to decide when you're comfortable doing so.

I understood the advice is to self-isolate if you test positive. You can un-isolate after 10 days or after Day 5 if you get 2x negative LFT results and no fever. Have I been hiding away unnecessarily? It's my first bout so I might be behind the times. However, reading the guidelines I thought I was doing the right thing.

You don't have to isolate AT ALL.

Even if you're positive.

Rutland2022 · 29/07/2022 12:22

The guidance is to isolate for 5 days but you don’t need negative tests. Legally you don’t have to isolate at all.

If you feel well enough just go do whatever you want , it’s only guidance

dementedpixie · 29/07/2022 15:54

You dont need a negative test to end isolation. In fact you arent legally obliged to isolate at all these days as its all just advice

The guidelines changed so you are following old information

@Clippityclod

You don't have to self isolate now but I have been reading the same thing as you. I think you have done the right thing to at least self isolate 5day. You have tested negative so you can go out.
I was told by someone I could still go out. I haven't though but you do what you feel is best.
I am going by 5 days and another test Sunday.

Northernsoullover · 29/07/2022 18:39

I stayed in for 7 days. I know you don't have to isolate but I was in a position where I could, and I'm not a selfish cunt.

Clippityclod · 29/07/2022 18:50

Thanks. I was happy to isolate, I'm just getting a bit stir crazy now so I’ll be up and about tomorrow. It's important to me to do what's right for me and mine, I just got in a tizz over the exact timings. Appreciated all the varying responses.

It's crazy isn't it to suddenly be told its ok carry on as normal when for over a year we were told stay-at-home dd was told she could go into work she could barely stand! They told her that she could just work on the till and take it easy

Scorpio8 · 29/07/2022 19:28

@Isaidnoalready

I was actually surprised at my work my manager just took me off my remaining days
I serve on the till wouldn't even go in they could get lost
She got to feel well enough too. If she doesn't anything could happen health comes first.
