Anyone awake? I had covid in 2020 and was in hospital in ICU for 4 weeks…I’m fully vacc now and have tested positive again today. I’ve got an really bad cough and breathing isn’t fun so I’m talking myself up into this going downhill again fast. Can anyone reassure me with having a really mild bout second time round?

I’m really sorry OP, not got any experience that will help reassure you. But can offer some company to talk through your anxiety? So much sympathy for what you went through. Here’s hoping the vaccination will do it’s job? Plus some natural immunity? I’m assuming (hoping?) medical professionals know a lot more about treating than they did in 2020 too.

Thank you lovely…I think my anxiety is just talking myself up to feeling worse than I am..oxy sats have stayed at 93 and 2020 they were down in the 70’s I think so everything crossed the vaccs are doing their job; it just brings back so many bad memories.

I don’t think this is unfounded anxiety. So it’s not a case of just talking yourself out of it. But it is definitely a case of keeping an eye on it and knowing the signs for concern, which sounds like you do. Keep an eye on those oxygen numbers and try not to panic. Call 111 if they start dropping. And just be kind to yourself. Can you rest up? Take yourself off to bed and binge watch something? Got someone who can take care of you?

Thank you..I will; I’m a single parent with a 5 year old which always adds to my worries; I’ll try and find something good on Netflix to binge!

@Myusername2015 I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. I was hospitalized at the start of the year with very low oxygen levels and ended up being off work and on steroids and inhalers for months and developed long covid.

Tested positive again around 3 weeks ago and immediately got onto my GP and requested some inhalers (pulmicort and salbutamol) and it has been no where near as bad this time around, although the heat hasn't helped! Went back to work on Monday and am feeling much better. Hope you feel better soon 💐

Myusername2015 · 14/07/2022 04:06

That’s so good to hear I’m really glad you’re feeling on the mend..I have long covid too which adds to the worry again doesn’t it. I’m already on inhalers for severe asthma but I’ll perhaps try and call the Gp tomorrow (by call I mean sit on the phone line for 7 hours until they don’t answer) to see if there’s anything else they could give me.

I am currently having it for the second time and I am nowhere near as bad as I was the first time. But it is so individual. I think calling the GP would be a good idea in your situation, especially as you had it so badly last time.

Myself and two sons, all NHS, had it early 2020. One son had it last week, like a bad cold, back at work after the obligatory 5 day negative test. Second son tested positive yesterday, he says not as bad as last time👍 so far I'm negative and hoping i stay that way as I was really ill and got long covid last time, unable to work for nearly a year.
If any help I've seen loads of older patients come into hospital with it and they've been well enough for home in a few days. Try to relax💐
