Worried about baby

We have a 12 week old baby in the house and dh has tested positive. I feel headachey and have a runny nose. I'm still testing negative and it could be hay fever but equally it wouldn't be surprising if I've picked it up too.

I'm really worried about our baby. She's so little and I can't distance from her for obvious reasons. But if she gets it is she likely to be really poorly? Has anyone else had a small baby who contracted covid? How did they cope? I'm triple jabbed and had my booster during pregnancy if that makes a difference. I'm really freaking out.

My baby is a bit older (nearly 6 months) but we're in the same position here (although both parents have tested positive). I suspect baby may already have it. It is day 4 for me and I breastfeed him. He's also a super clingy baby so I can't distance myself from him at all. He has been a bit snotty sounding and does an occasional cough and sneeze. If he does have it he is the least symptomatic of the 3 of us. Ive been thinking of testing him but then figured it is probably pointless.
I think most babies are absolutely fine so I would try not to worry. I know easier said than done!

@LT2 sorry you're going through it too. I think waiting to see if/who gets it is worse somehow. I'm being super cautious with hand washing and hygiene but it's hard. Dd has also sneezed a few times but doesn't have a temperature and doesn't seem unsettled (no more than usual anyway!) I just hope there won't be any complications if she does get it with her being so little :-(

We had it last week when DS was 2 weeks old, I didn’t test him but everyone else in the house had it. He was a bit sniffly and more clingy, but otherwise ok.

Are you breastfeeding @honeybooboo33 ? My baby is 4 months and I now have it. Not overly worried as had all three vaccines during pregnancy and my midwife said it had been proven to pass antibodies to baby as does breast milk.

My baby got it at 11 weeks. He was a bit poorly but calpol helped, he had a cough and cold symptoms but didn't last too long and he was absolutely fine. I was worried too when we tested positive but he was fine.

I only breastfed for the first few days unfortunately. Pleased to hear you LO's got it mildly

My 6 month old has had it twice - once at 11 weeks and now.

11 weeks all she had was mild sniffles for 2 days. No fever. She has had much worse colds (from her older brother!). I wouldn't have known she had it if we hadn't tested her.

This time she vomited 3 times and was off her food and fussy for 2 days, now seems back to normal. No fever. I thought it was a tummy bug but turns out we all have Covid.

We all caught it when DD was about 17 weeks. I didn’t test her but pretty sure she caught it as she had a temperature and a runny nose and the rest of the family were all positive. She was a bit unsettled for one night, but recovered fine.
