Different brand of antigen tests giving different results

I’ve been testing the Deep Blue covid tests and I’m positive, I’ve tried innova and Flowflex and I’m negative. I have been around people who have had covid.

I’m not really unwell, I’d rather be at work. Considering the latter tests enable you to report to the NHS and the former does not, what am I supposed to think?

Maybe that explains why my friend did 2 antigen tests at home that were negative but felt so rotten went to get a PCR test. She was told it was positive so did another home antigen test which was again negative 😮

I wonder about those antigen tests.

Our Chief Medical Officer here in Ireland was very slow to acknowledge their usefulness and was criticised for his stance. 🤔

Flowflex was neg for me whereas the nhs throat one came up w a dark line immediately.
i expect it depends on where your infection is as if you have a sore throat it’s gonna be there, if you have a cold it’s gonna be more in your nose.

I had a sore throat but all the tests required swapping in the nostril.

I assume Deep Blue is more sensitive. Other people in the house have used the Deep Blue and came back negative.

Swabbing not swapping 🤦‍♀️

The advice a while back was to throat swab with flowflex anyway as the variant of the time was being picked up better when swabbing throat and nose.

I think the US stopped using Innova after reports it wasn’t accurate, I saw a MNer post that on here after a few NHS staff were saying they had had varying results with them.

it has been said for a while that LFT aren’t accurate in all cases. I know a few people who had negative LFT but were positive on PCR.

So basically I probably have covid. Thank you.

Work will only accept the tests which can be reported to the NHS I.e Flowflex and Innova

No privately bought tests can currently be reported to the NHS so unless you've got a stash of free ones left over, work can't insist on that.

Jules912 · 11/07/2022 18:52

Test again tomorrow and they'll probably all be positive. Although my DS often gets a faint false positive on flowflex but seems fine with other brands ( not tried deep blue though)

Mine doesn’t have a number to report with it - it’s an accepted product bought from a nationwide pharmacy. It’s the Deep Blue Step Ahead tests.

Sorry I’ve just realised I misread your message 🤦‍♀️
