Oxygen levels

So yes after 2 years avoid it, I’ve caught covid.

In your opinion What would be an issue on oxygen levels?
Mines are usually above 95% but will go lower if I move around (eg to the loo. Go to the kitchen etc…).
During the night, my levels were even lower but I didn’t realise it was an issue until this am (asked DH to check and he said it was ll good if I was over 92%….).

90% is a clinical emergency, 92% is borderline and 94% and above is fine.

I don't know, but DD1 has asthma and her consultant said that measuring O2 levels only is not a good idea as so much more needs to be taken into account such as listening to the chest (for respiratory issues), x rays etc.

If you aren't right, then call for help.

Thank you.

Are levels supposed to stay above 94~95% even when moving around?

When ds had pneumonia, they discharged him at the point he stayed at 93 and above. They wanted it higher really but if he lay down, particularly if he slept, they consistently dropped to 93. On admission, they were 78 so it was a huge improvement!

Choconuttolata · 02/07/2022 13:21

This is normal for COVID and some other respiratory infections. 92 and above whilst sleeping is ok. 94 and above moving around is fine. If you go below 93 moving around and it doesn't come back up when you sit down then seek advice. Keep an close eye and phone for advice early if you are worried. My husband went downhill fast from being up walking and talking to dropping his sats to 86 after walking within a few hours on day 6.

When they asked me to measure mine during covid they said they shouldn’t dip when moving really. I don’t know what you’re measuring with but I find my finger monitor drops wildly if I’m moving. I think jts just not that accurate

CovidHasCaughtUpWithMe · 02/07/2022 13:46

Thank you. I’ll carry on keeping an eye on it.
At least the fever has gone as well as the achy feeling on the ribs (I haven’t had a cough too!,)

If I noticed it going down again, ill get get DH to ring 111.

When I was in hospital with covid they were happy with 92%.
I had to prove I could stand up and walk very slowly for 3 minutes without SATs dropping below 92 before I was allowed to be discharged.
