Recovery pass

Hi. Does anyone have any experience of Covid recovery passes for travel now it is virtually impossible to get an NHS PCR?We're travelling to France by ferry in August, and they will accept one vaccination and recent infection for entry.DS is 15, single vaccinated and was due his second any time now after a previous positive. However, last week he came down with Covid again. We knew this would bugger up his second jab, so got a private PCR to prove he's had Covid within the required 180 days. However, further reading now seems to suggest it needs to be an NHS PCR to be valid for a recovery pass - but your average 15-year-old can't get an NHS PCR??Are we just going to have to take our chances on a pre-travel test or am I missing something? TIA

Apologies for lack of paragraphs: cut and paste fail.

I would do a pre travel private LFT in your circumstances

My son is also 15 and just had to travel to America. They had very strict rules until recently and I jumped through various hoops to get his vaccinations etc until read somewhere that all the regulations only applied to over 16s. It might be the same for France as I know that Italy and Spain also have different rules for under 16s. And if it's any consolation no one asked to see anything re his Covid status, or mine in our recent trips to America and Italy.

Thanks both.

@dementedpixie , I was hoping to avoid the stress of that due to all the horror stories I've read of them not coming back in time! But I fear that that will be our only option.

@surlycurly , France is all under-18s. So he meets the requirements of one jab and recent previous infection, it's just unclear how to prove it 🤔

I honestly found the Covid pass etc the most stressful thing I've done in a very long time. You just don't want to jeopardise the holiday in any way. And then when you do get away, it's like Covid doesn't exist at all! Sorry to not have been more help- good luck!

We had to use a private company. You do it all on line, and them your official notice of a positive result (ours was from thy NHS but only for an lft because it was at the time when they were saying a positive LFT should be assumed to be definitely having covid). We got the cert back within hours. It didn't have the right QR code on it but when we showed it to everyone who needed it they accepted it on sight (this was in Italy), including the airport.
