Son felt poorly yesterday, hot and cold, headache but he had just come out of A and E with concussion so thought maybe very over tired as we were there all night. Just a test now as he's really snotty, feeling really poorly and it's positive.....mocks next week and college tatser days..if yest was day 1 then could he maybe if he feels better go in Tues or Wed day 5/6? I nearly didn't test him as he's had colds many times over last 2 years and it was never covid. This is the first time he's tested +

Thank you. I'm sure lots of people aren't even testing anymore..

Yes I think you're right, most aren't as free tests are no longer available. We did as had been in contact with someone who had it, the DC had clear symptoms and we had some tests left in the cupboard. I've now got it at 30 week pregnant and feeling rubbish 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was just curious as because he's had a head injury and he was feeling so poorly I thought I would test him, I have lots of tests for work. I almost wish I hadn't as now I feel too responsible to let him out and about before he's negative again.

Advice here (Scotland) is if they don’t have a temp and just feel mildly unwell they can carry on as normal. If they don’t feel well enough to carry out normal activities or have a temp they need to isolate for 3 days.

I had it and tested/isolated. However I did not test my children as it’s the advice not to do so unless advised by a medical professional.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they had had it asymptomatically and gave it to me 🤨

As a pregnant school staff member this worries me. Regardless of the rules, I think it's wrong to knowingly spread COVID. Other pupils may be vulnerable or have vulnerable family members.

LovinglifeAF · 24/06/2022 17:29

Sorry to clarify my children have had no symptoms

Pob13 · 24/06/2022 17:47

As a college our rule is that if you feel well then you are in college. Regardless of a positive test. Believe me when I say that a lot of people do not agree with it. I am currently positive and will not be going in until I am 100% and testing negative.

LifeInsideMyhead · 24/06/2022 17:52

Yup our school says if you feel unwell (temperature/vomit etc) then don't come in - if you feel well come in - just the same as precovid.

They've gone further to say kids should only really be being tested by HCP so kids shouldn't be getting anxious about coming in/having covid. They really want kids on seats...

Yes, for a lot of us this is hypothetical now.

Bellebop · 25/06/2022 07:35

Found this on government guidelines. They say they recommend you don't even test a child.

All to do with education I guess!

Plus we know covid is everywhere and that even when we had guidance to test regularly, free universal test access and legal requirements to isolate, that still didn't stop the incredibly contagious Omicron variants from sweeping across the population. Although I don't think most parents would still be willing to test even if guidance were to do it, so perhaps it's moot.
