I started feeling rubbish last night.
Tickly throat and chest. Woke up today feeling 💩 ache all over and keep feeling ill. Tested this morning and negative but I'm sure I have covid. A Colleague has tested positive today and I just know I'm next. 😩
Last had covid in November - what are the chances I just had a cold!

My DS has tested positive, too young to isolate in the house. 4 days later and my other DS and I, who have both felt ill the whole time (probably more ill than covid child!) have still tested negative, both with Rapid Antigen tests and PCR tests.

Covid is bloody weird.....

ClaryFairchild · 22/06/2022 15:07

Oh and I'm in Australia and haven't had it at all yet.

Same here - DD started having symptoms Friday night and tested positive on Sunday. I have been looking after her and hanging out with her and haven't felt great but tests are all negative.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 22/06/2022 15:29

Do you have tests?

It took me 4 days to test positive after my partner did. Mind you, I was looking after him so knew I was going to get it.

Can you order in shopping/paracetamol etc?

Yes, chances are you will test postive as COVID cases are going through the roof again. But you won't know unless you test.

It also took me 10 days to test negative again.

Hope you feel better soon. Just rest, have lots of fluids and nice treats.

Yes, I have tests. I've felt too ill to be at work today but don't want to call in sick if I don't have covid. I work in an environment where if I have covid I have to be off work until I test negative.
I've taken paracetamol and had plenty of fluids - I'll just have to test again tomorrow and see whether it's positive or not. If it isn't I'll have to go into work.

Im putting off a test
Colleague had tested positive for covid monday night and was in work with them
Going on holiday sat and will have to cancel if positive
As flying
Not sure when I should test from or leave until day, but today had the slightest of headache so wonder if its a synptom or just stress from it all and work as one paracetamol has stopped it , along with coming off the laptop
Im wondering if 2 days is too early to test after contact or if i should do one today because of brief headache and again nearer time or sooner if symptoms show

bigbluebus · 22/06/2022 17:28

DS and I both tested positive 3 days after DH did. We all tested negative the day our symptoms started but positive the following day. We missed our holiday 😔

It's awful you've had to miss your holiday. I'll test again tomorrow and see if I'm positive then. My symptoms started late last night but have got worse during the day.
I don't want covid again but if I don't have it I have something else. My chest is so tight and my throat is itchy, I can hardly swallow.

Still negative on LFT this morning. It's obviously just a cold I have that's settled on my chest. I feel shocking but don't want to call in sick so whatever I have I'm going to have to power through it.

it's obviously just a cold

It's not obviously anything.

Personally, I think you're being selfish going into work where you could infect other people. Especially if you feel 'shocking'.

Cold or COVID, no-one wants your germs.

Stop being a martyr and just stay at home until you feel better.

It's nothing to do with being a martyr! It's about not having a bad sickness record or leaving my colleagues with an extra workload.

Having a day off sick is not a bd sickness record unless you've taken loads of other time off.

or leaving my colleagues with an extra workload

Just leave them with COVID then. Much better plan... I give up.

classicusernamechange · 23/06/2022 08:28

I totally see your point, unfortunately I have a manager who doesn't see things the same way. As far as they will be concerned my LFT is negative so that means I don't have Covid in their eyes. Regardless of my symptoms. Either way I'm damned if I do and damned if I done.

OP posts:
GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 23/06/2022 15:53

Suggest you cough all over your manager in that case. But stay away from other colleagues and keep all windows open if possible.

Hope you feel better soon.

I stayed well clear of colleagues today - all our windows still have to be open. My manager suggested I have hay fever when I explained how I was feeling.

I know of people who have been told they have to come into work positive as no law now
So many people say do this and that , easy if you have a job that allows you too and can afford time off. Etc , for many that is simply not possible
