Grocery delivery

Can you still have groceries delivered if you're positive? Should I tell the driver? I was thinking of wearing a mask and then asking them to step right back whilst we unpack... but then they'd still have to touch the baskets after I have! it's beign delivered soon, so no time to put a note in the order.

Delivery just worked as normal when I had Covid. I wore a mask, packed groceries into bags then driver took the crates away.

OuiOuiMonAmi · 21/06/2022 08:20

Thanks. Did you let them know you have it?

Can’t they unpack the baskets on your doorstep?

(I use Ocado so there’s never any need for direct contact with the driver, they just drop the bags outside.)

I doubt you’re the only person receiving deliveries whilst ill! Hope you get better soon.

Mindymomo · 21/06/2022 08:22

As soon as you open door tell driver, then stand back, they will then put groceries on door step and will back away. Definitely wear a mask, double up if you can. A lot of drivers have gloves, do you have any you could wear.

OuiOuiMonAmi · 21/06/2022 08:26

This is Asda - they don't unpack like Ocado do😂 Gloves is a great idea - thanks. I'll tell them when I answer the door and ask what they want me to do.

When I had COVID I added a note to the delivery instructions.

Something along the lines of 'The person receiving the order is positive for COVID-19'.

When I opened the door I wore a mask, stood well back and the driver unpacked the crate just inside the door.

OOAOML · 21/06/2022 08:29

We have collapsible crates so we left them downstairs (we're in a flat) and the delivery driver unloaded our stuff into them. Can you put boxes or bags at the door? They're probably used to it.

easyday · 21/06/2022 08:30

I think they ask on the order form to let them know so driver is prepared. Don't know about Asda though.

Yes, I just went to do that but because the delivery is in a few hours it's not possible to amend anything.

Does anyone bother anymore?

Probably not - but I think that's unfair to the drivers!

Leave a note on your door and bags for them to put the shopping in.

Skyeheather · 21/06/2022 08:45

Do you have a front garden? Could you ask the driver to tip the contents of the baskets onto the front lawn, then you go out with bags and pack it all up when the driver has gone?

AG1210 · 21/06/2022 11:17

I'm a regular Tesco shopper and usually chat to the drivers so when I had covid I left a delivery note and note on the door to just leave outside to minimise the risk. I provided boxes for them to put it in. I didn't want to risk spreading it.

this was a while ago, people might not be so bothered now but still leaving on the step is a good idea!

TheRoadToRuin · 21/06/2022 12:52

I would stick a note on the door telling driver you have covid and place some bags outside.
