Spring booster only available until 30th June?

Hello,

I am immunosuppressed and got my vaccine January 2021, April 2021 and October 2021. I am eligible for a forth vaccine for CEV folks with weakened immune systems (third primary vaccine), and possibly also a separate spring booster?

I'm a little muddled but due to getting the HPV vaccine and having caught COVID, I haven't taken any other vaccines the past few months as didn't want any interference even though I have received letters. However I would like to take up another vaccine - I guess this would be my booster, in August but in the news it says they are only available until 30th June? Is this correct? I have a HPV vaccine again on 13th July so really wish to wait until a month after that but concerned how long it's been since my last vaccine and now it's been a few months since I have COVID.

I'd speak to your GP about the best course of action for you personally.

I’m immune suppressed and had the same pattern of vaccine dates as you except I have also had a 4th in January 22 and have just had my 5th. I’d speak to your GP about timings so that you can get your next booster asap.

Why are you wanting to wait one month?
You can have other vaccines with the Covid one in theory, except the Shingles vaccine, which is a live vaccine. However, if you want to wait, autumn boosters will be starting shortly after

They will be starting again in Sept

I don't know what's happening with cut offs, but I suggest you get another one done now

You've had normal primary course (2 shots, Jan and April 21), and third primary (October 21)

You'd have been eligible for first booster from Jan 22, and second booster three months after that.

I don't think you'll be able to fit in 2 boosters before they start autumn jabs (timings tbc, but expect 3-6 months after last booster - looks like general idea is that all the 'free flu shot' group will get annual autumn boosters and the immune-suppressed and over 75s get spring and autumn ones; possibly with whole population winter jabs (after the more vulnerable have had a chance to get theirs especially if/when there is a new shot tweaked for later variants.

If you can't have the shots together, then you need to ask GP (or better still the lead pharmacist at a vaccinating pharmacy as IME they're the best informed) about safe interval.

If the timings don't work, then I suggest getting covid shot now (in case it's 6mths gap from spring to autumn shot) and rescheduling the HPV

BTW - keep the letter that identifies you as in the third primary group - you may need to flash it, especially if you use a walk-in

I can't reschedule the HPV vaccine as I'm in the middle of the course. I unfortunately caught covid when I was due my booster and then had to wait a while before I could get it after infection. I now just want my one booster (if we count the Oct vaccine as the third primary vaccine). I suppose I could wait until September but then assume there may be an influx of people. Just annoying they have suddenly introduced a cut off for my group ☹️

So basically want my one standard booster, forget the spring booster, then wait for autumn booster later in the year

You can wait until September, since Covid was your ”booster” this year. If, let's say, you had Covid in March, a 6 months interval between the illness and the vaccine in September is just fine. Besides, a jab in autumn/winter obviously has more sense, since Covid is more prevalent in the cold season than in summer.

I’d try and get one before the 30th June cut off tbh. We’re probably at the start of the next wave. Depending on when you had covid (presuming Jan-Mar) it’s difficult to judge how much immunity you have to the variants spreading now.

User14999 · 20/06/2022 19:11

It was in January that I had COVID.

I think you need to check with GP or a vaccine centre or a large pharmacy which offers jabs, what the recommended interval between these jabs is. If you don't have then together, then it's 2 weeks interval between flu and covid jabs, and IIRC the standard question for covid jab is if you have had any other vax in the lase 2 weeks.

You need to find out now if it's also 2 weeks for HPV jab. If it is, then you'll be able to fit in both

Ended up not getting my 4th dose due to the HPV vaccine schedule and then I caught covid! Thankfully just had a cough for a week and now I'm fine.
