So how many times have we had it, and are we going to get it?

Second time round, each one 6 months post vaccine / booster and wondering how many more rounds to come. I’ve heard of people who’ve had it 3 times but just thinking twice in 9 months feels a lot.

Me and both dc’s got it in March this year. Dh has yet to catch it despite being a critical worker and working throughout the pandemic from day one!

UndertheEagle · 18/06/2022 20:14

DH and I have currently got it for the first time. It's horrible. I really don't want it again.

Jules912 · 18/06/2022 20:26

I got it for the first time in March and now have long Covid, really don't want it again!

lorisparkle · 18/06/2022 20:31

I had Covid at the beginning of December - but it was fairly mild. I have just had it again and felt far worse. However I did have all my jabs fairly early as a health and social care worker but am not entitled to any more boosters.

Lovemusic33 · 18/06/2022 20:40

I have had it 3 times and am fully vaccinated. 3rd time was the worst. I dread getting it again.

firef1y · 18/06/2022 20:43

How many times a year do you catch a cold?? (I know, I know, covid isn't a cold, but it is closely related to some colds).

mrsfoof · 18/06/2022 20:44

First time for me last week. Rest of family (DH, DCs, DParents, DSiblings) have still not had it. All adults triple vaxxed. Kids not vaxxed.

Lovemusic33 · 18/06/2022 20:45

I rarely get a cold, once a year at the most. Have had covid 3 times in 2 years 😬

Minkymandy · 18/06/2022 20:46

DH currently on his 2nd lot. 1st was at Christmas. He doesn't seem as bad this time. I've had it once and eldest dc has had it 3 times, middle has had it twice and youngest just the once with me. Fingers crossed we don't catch it this time.

KnitOnePearlOneDropOne · 18/06/2022 20:47

DSC haven't had it. Both DH and I were quite ill.

All are upto date with vax.

Very fit sporty DH was seriously ill and in hospital at one point.

Don't want it again.

Very rarely here.

stoptheride · 18/06/2022 20:50

I had it in November 2020 and it's taken me a long time to get over the effects. My window cleaner (very fit healthy conscious man) was knocked out with it for months recently .. I fear we are heading for another bout sept/October this year 🥴

EmotionalSupportWyrm · 18/06/2022 21:01

I know three people - including one of my DC - who've had it three times. I've not had it at all - but I don't work and really don't go into many crowded areas, (train & bus journey a couple of times a week to an activity) and I do my grocery shopping online as I'd have to drive to a supermarket anyway - so I don't know if I have any super immunity or just haven't been exposed much - I suspect the latter.

sittingonacornflake · 18/06/2022 21:01

Haven't had it yet!

vanillasunshine · 18/06/2022 21:04

Had it end of Jan...felt rough for 2 weeks

Just tested positive this morning g....headache, temperature, chills/sweats....hoping it will be shorter this time

Eightytwenty · 18/06/2022 21:09

So for the 3 timers - it doesn’t even seem that it automatically is easier with each dose. 3 colds in 12-24 months would surely be a lot for most people. Feels super depressing that people can have 3 doses of Covid in the same frame (with vaccinations not preventing, and immunity not able to build due to variants).

I’ve had it twice this year, and really feel like I might have it again now - lateral flow test is negative but they didn’t turn until well after the positive PCR in round one. I was very, very ill the first time - the sickest I have ever been as an adult. The second time I have gone to work feeling far worse many times previously.

40s, three jabs, no health issues, healthy weight.

simbobs · 18/06/2022 22:07

Not had it, nor has DH. Both DC have had it once but very mildly. I think it will soon be time to mask up in public again, though.

VinoEsmeralda · 18/06/2022 22:15

2nd time in 7 months here 1st time mild, this time not so lucky. Fully vaxxed

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 19/06/2022 01:22

I had it last November and again in January. Felt rough first time and not too bad second.

ilovebagpuss · 19/06/2022 10:31

4th time for me as I caught the first one April 2020 and roughly every 7 ish months after that. My last booster was Nov 2021. I think it will just become the norm and the vaccination will protect those who need it most.
My 84 year old DF has just had it and he'd had his spring booster he said he felt really bad and he's basically spent a week just bed to sofa and he's very tough usually.
However considering his age the booster must have helped.
My DH and I are riddled with nasty cold symptoms really and DH has a massive cold sore. I'm fed up but not dangerously ill.
So basically this is it and its going to just carry on. We won't bother testing in a few years unless vulnerable. We only tested as we had a wedding and didn't want to take it there. Also I'd rather know so I can be considerate.

chosenone · 19/06/2022 10:40

2nd time for me currently. 6 months to the day since the last bout. Seems identical so far, hoping its mild but the raging temp and nausea on day 1 were the give away

TheNinthLock · 19/06/2022 10:57

Currently have it for the first time despite working through the pandemic in a primary school.
Felt dreadful for the first 48 hours. Now on day 3 and a little better. Utterly drained though…

Wow @ilovebagpuss 4 times. I know of several who’ve had it 3 times but 4 is a lot. It’s interesting that is the pattern.

The problem is that it still impacts life - you presumably missed the wedding. I’ve missed a number of events this weekend. If it was a cold I’d have gone - albeit might have felt a bit grotty - and might have passed it on. Now we have a hybrid where some of us are still staying home but certainly not everyone is.

@Eightytwenty yes I suspect there are probably a few in healthcare coming up to their 4th, I caught first dose probably only a few weeks after the stay at home broadcast. I was in a care home at the time helping in the office and because we didn't have lots of info I remember them saying only those giving personal care needed masks. Basically we were walking around without any PPE for a few weeks with residents openly coughing.
I suppose I could have gone on with my life this weekend but as I felt so rough I probably wouldn't have fancied the wedding anyway. Also I have plenty of tests hanging about from my job, but I wouldn't be going out buying them so I can understand people just getting on as normal who don't have tests.
