Spain entry requirements

I am pro vaccine and have had both vaccines plus the booster. They all made me extremely poorly
My husband had the first two vaccines but chose not to have the booster, again because he was so ill with them.
My kids age 8 and 11 are both unvaccinated. They have all had covid more than once and been absolutely fine. So I don't see the need for the vaccine and hope/ presume they have natural antibodies.

Weve recently been to America, that was OK as only 2 vaccines were required. We have a holiday to spain booked for the summer, this has been rearranged multiple times since before covid. But the current Spanish rules want you to be boosted and there is also something about if last vaccine is over 270 days ago your not classed as vaccinated

So my husband won't be classed as vaccinated and also my son will have just turned 12 so will also be classed as unvaccinated. Do we have to take a supervised lateral flow 24 hours before and show a fit to fly certificate?

It's all so blimmin complicated and each country has totally different entry requirements. Anyone been to Spain recently who can advise?

I've just been. The full details are here www.spth.gob.es

If you don't meet vaccine/ booster requirements, there are options for proof of recent recovery or a negative test.

NCTDN · 17/06/2022 11:24

I don't see how you can get proof of recovery because you don't officially report lfts now? I've realised dd needs a booster before she goes away. I'm hoping it means it's valid immediately.

wierdowithnoname · 20/06/2022 23:02

I spoke to nhs as my child had covid and I logged the LFT - they said it didn’t count as we did it at home and they’d need a PCR for evidence for a recovery certificate. Not sure about boosters but jab 2 needs to be 14 days before flying out.

I think you can get a PCR 72 hours before flying as proof now. (Better time frame than 24 hour LFT)

Spain's rules are frustrating! We're due to go in a few weeks, my son has had 1 jab, I've had 2 (but over 270 days ago) and hubby is triple jabbed. None of us have ever tested positive, I do not want a booster and I don't want my son to have a second jab but feel pressured into it. You can have a PCR test 72hrs before flight or an antigen test 24hrs before flight, a lot of local chemists provide this service at a cost, complete with fit to fly cert, bearing in mind that if a test returns positive, you won't be able to fly and unless your travel insurance covers you, you will lose out financially. The thing that frustrates me the most is that travellers from the EU and Shengen get to visit Spain freely without any rules and regulations! The jab doesn't stop you from getting covid and passing it around! Also, if you're thinking of getting your child jabbed, you need to ensure it's at least 14days before you go. And another note, if you book any of the preflight tests and Spain change their rules, you don't get refunded for the test! It's a nightmare 😫

We are currently in Spain. We arrived on Saturday. We are all fully vaxxed and boosted and the rest of it and had paperwork to prove it but nobody at the airport cared one jot. There were two people at a covid test station as we came out of passport control but we said we were from uk and they just waved us through without looking at anything,

CA747 · 30/06/2022 19:52

Stroopwaffels - I thought it was more the fact that you needed evidence of jabs etc at UK airport flying out? Didnt you have to produce your docs etc at check in here in the UK?

Topseyt123 · 30/06/2022 20:56

I am also currently in Spain. Arrived last Friday.

We are all fully vaccinated but nobody checked anything at all at the airport when we landed. Zilch.

I don't suppose you can guarantee that happening, but it does seem to be a regular occurrence.

We didn't. Certainly not that I noticed. We flew from Stansted.

OP in the time you typed the op you could have googled the info from an official source rather than touting for unreliable heresay and projection on mn.

No, nothing. Check in person at Glasgow said “I take it you’re all fully vaxxed “ we said yes and no proof was asked for.

We returned from a week in Spain earlier this week, flew from Birmingham. Our Covid passes were checked at Birmingham flying out, and there were random checks at the airport at the other end (we weren't personally checked).

Unfortunately for us we all tested positive when we got back.

Lupinhere37 · 02/07/2022 19:09

Flew to Seville and we were asked to wear masks there and back. They were mandatory; provided by staff if you didn’t have your own.
Covid passes were scrutinised thoroughly and many of us additionally questioned. Everyone had a temperature and visual check by a nurse. Some appeared to be selected for Covid testing; there was a booth set up in arrivals. In several cities and large towns we noticed masks were required on public transport.
@doistayordoigo I have also tested positive on my return today. Hope you feel better soon!

doistayordoigo · 02/07/2022 19:54

@Lupinhere37 Sorry to hear you've tested positive too, hope you're not feeling too bad! Finally starting to feel a bit better today, was most worried about my dad who is 80, but he had the least symptoms of all of us - I assume because he's recently had his 4th vaccination.

maddy68 · 02/07/2022 19:59

You can take a test prior to travel if not completely vaccinated

Yes I live in Spain. Masks are compulsory in public transport , public offices and health places such as pharmacy , dentist etc

You will be asked to wear a mask on your journey to Spain on the plan. If your destination country has it mandatory on public transport then it's on the plane too.
Other airlines also Insisit

Stroopwaffels · 02/07/2022 20:02

We flew to Spain and were not asked to wear a mask. Crew were not wearing masks. Mark wearing in public transport here is patchy,

Lupinhere37 · 02/07/2022 21:55

@maddy68 that’s interesting…..I wondered if it was the case. On the plane home there were no pre-flight checks but the entire plane load of passengers wore a mask without being asked and the crew didn’t wear them at all!
@doistayordoigo glad you’re feeling better and your dad seems ok. My symptoms seem mild, apart from a weird taste and even weirder hearing loss!

RunnerDown · 02/07/2022 22:14

We flew to Spain (Palma) and masks had to be worn on the plane but not in the airport. Our vaccine certificates were checked before we could collect our baggage. They were scanning everyone’s certificates

Stroopwaffels · 03/07/2022 07:58

Obviously varies enormously between departure airport, airline, and arrival airport. So the best advice would be to have a mask as you may be asked to wear one, but it’s not a certainty. Ditto showing your pass or vaccination certificate.

WobblyLondoner · 03/07/2022 10:17

Another who is in Spain. Our covid certificates were checked on arrival (though only the first one really examined) and our temperature taken. Masks worn on flights and trains.

Yellowmellow2 · 03/07/2022 14:50

I’m going to Lanzarote which, whilst it’s Spain, has slightly different rules. It’s a LF test within 48 hours rather than 24. All very confusing!
