Do you have to be the best of health for a vaccine/booster

I know if one had covid recently, they are not supposed to get the vaccine.

My mother is eligible for a booster for the past 5 weeks or thereabouts. She had no hesitation with the previous vaccines and booster but now she's making excuses. She says one has to be the best of health to get it and she says she has a sore back. Does a sore back have any bearing on the vaccine? And if her back is so sore that she doesn't want to get the vaccine, why has she neglected looking after it? She is refusing to go to the doctor about her back or to even discuss her concerns and apprehension on the booster.

it sounds like she is just apprehensive about getting the booster. Did she have side effects from her last jab and not mention it?
At the end of the day, if she doesn't want it, she doesn't want it.

No, a bad back is no good reason. If she doesn't want it though it's her decision.
If someone was acutely unwell - temperature etc even if not Covid they'd probably recommend waiting, simply because you don't want to feel ill & have side effects. Bad back, no.

Is it actually that she's concerned the soreness is a more serious problem but doesn't want to openly say that?

Many of the early jab and booster recipients were the most sick in society as they needed the protection more than most. So, no.

Your mother is right, she doesn't ”make excuses”. If I had a sore back, I won't go either. Sore back means inflammation, this vaccine means more inflammation and can be very taxing for a body, knowing that you have to be able to mobilise all your resources to fight the ”infection”. She can go whenever she wants to see a doctor and then to have the vaccine.
