Anyone work at a walk-in vaccination centre?

Hi - my 12-year old was due her second jab in May, but caught covid go a second time. I uploaded her LFT into the system. My question is; when we go to a walk-in for her second jab, will they see this on her record? I know they as verbally whether they've had covid in the previous 12 weeks, but didn't know about the record. I would really like to get her jabbed 1 or 2 days before the 12 weeks is up so that we can go on holiday late August, but I don't know if we'd be prevented from doing that?

Also, she tested positive on a Saturday - is she able to get the next jab 12 weeks exactly (ie on a Saturday?) or is it 12 weeks from the day after the test? She had symptoms the evening before her LFT, but I only logged the LFT date - is it possible to get that date changed in the system? The 1 or 2 days will really make a difference to the holiday plans!

I cannot book her an appointment on the system as there is some glitch with her record (it shows she's eligible but no appointments can be booked). 119 and the GP are unable to offer any help with this other than to turn up at a walk-in centre.

They system will be stopping you booking as it's within the 12 weeks I think. Am not sure there is any way you can get around this.

Thanks. The booking issue is a separate problem as I wasn’t able to book her 2nd vaccine even before she got Covid (it gave us an error message each time) 119 and the GP surgery were unable to solve this; they just advised we would need to go to a walk in centre for the 2nd jab (they confirmed her first dose is in the system , so don’t know what the booking issue is).

I’d just like to know whether the walk-in centre will access the date of the LFT from the system or whether they will accept the date she had symptoms which I would give them verbally. The one-day difference is crucial for holiday booking; I wish I hadn’t recorded her LFT result online now, but I thought it would help get her a recovery pass (which I’ve since learned that it doesn’t!).

They'll access the online info. Whether they'd be prepared to go by what you say about symptoms, I'm not sure anyone will be able to tell you, until you get there and ask.

Don't quote me but I believe you can go off the first date of symptoms.

Idiots at my local centre. First stating it was 4 months from COVID then couldn't work out 12 weeks ago from today's date getting it off by weeks. You'd think they were a bit more on the ball.

Where I have worked we only asked the patient , we didn’t check anywhere.

My dd got covid 12 weeks to the day after her first jab. 12 weeks later, when we went for the second, the nurse asked why we'd left it so long (and assumed it would have been that she'd caught it). She had one of the last PCRs before they were no longer 'necessary', dd2 just had an (uploaded) LFT. They didn't seem to have access to either.

I am a volunteer steward and we do appointments and walk-ins. The vaccinators can see your vaccination status but nothing else from your medical record so they wouldn't know if anyone had had covid.

Those 'idiots' are probably volunteers who do it maybe once a week or less for no reward. They are not medical professionals and don't know everything and, as you know, the situation changes frequently.

Grumpysister · 04/06/2022 09:37

They can see your previous vaccination dates but not your positive tests on their system. We had exactly the same situation re travel, and I had my two DC done 10.5 weeks from positive PCR tests.

JanglyBeads · 04/06/2022 10:13

Oh I was going by the in-school vaccinators, they could definitely see registered positive tests on the system. Maybe different system used if not in school, then.

dogwog · 04/06/2022 13:46

Why on earth are you giving her a second jab when she has just had covid? Surely it's obvious the vaccines are not preventing covid.

Janek · 04/06/2022 15:24

Because an LFT offers no 'proof' that she's had covid, and to go on holiday you need to have been fully vaccinated.

Cookerhood · 06/06/2022 10:38

Vaccinators definitely can't see anything in your medical record other than dates of Covid vaccination (& flu vaccination).
The "idiots" will be being given different information every time they volunteer to vaccinate. It's not their fault.
