My child has covid. I wouldn't even have tested but she felt like last time she had covid so she wanted to do a test so I did and it's come out positive.
Are we just going out as normal??
Sending her to childcare as normal?

No, the advice is to stay at home if there's a positive test.

As you would for chicken pox for example.

Hope she's feeling okay

Threetulips · 28/05/2022 18:56

Stay home for 5 days and limit outings/people etc

lunar1 · 28/05/2022 18:57

Have all the clinically vulnerable people vanished?

TulipsGarden · 28/05/2022 18:58

Please don't. Advice is to keep children at home for three days, I think five is more sensible.

ATadConfused · 28/05/2022 18:58

The sensible thing to do is isolate, guidance is to isolate.

WHY would you go out & about/take her to childcare unless you absolutely had to?

Yourearealboy · 28/05/2022 18:59

I couldn’t go out and about knowing I had covid & I certainly wouldn’t send DC off to infect someone who looked after them.

purpleme12 · 28/05/2022 19:05

So I have to keep her at home till Thursday?

Guidelines Are clear

Got covid
Mirrorball2022 · 28/05/2022 19:16

Technically there are no laws now. However there a few guidelines and if you can keep her home please do. Like you would with chicken pox or flu etc. Not sure childcare would let or want her in tbh.

Some are probably cracking on I’m sure but doesn’t make it right.

purpleme12 · 28/05/2022 19:22

Ok so I can send her to childcare on Wednesday if it's 3 days?

OP posts:
Hopeful16 · 28/05/2022 19:33

It's 3 days for under 18s. So today is day zero so she can go back on Wednesday.

Lindy2 · 28/05/2022 19:46

Would you really feel ok taking your DD out and to childcare as normal, knowing she was infecting people with Covid?

Legally you don't have to stay home. However, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

Keep her home for at least 5 days to be considerate of others.

purpleme12 · 28/05/2022 20:17

Is it 3 or 5 days?

OP posts:
Hopeful16 · 28/05/2022 21:22

This is what the NHS site says -

Got covid
purpleme12 · 28/05/2022 21:30

Oh right so can't go anywhere on Wednesday either!!

I don't have enough tests for me so we won't know if I get it anyway

OP posts:
covidaarrgghh · 28/05/2022 22:31

No, today is Day 0, so you need to isolate her Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. She's OK to go out on Wednesday, unless she's got a temperature. That's the NHS guidance, anyway. (I work in a school, and that's what we're telling parents to do now.)

purpleme12 · 29/05/2022 20:56

Ah right sorry I think I was getting confused yesterday.
So no childcare till Wednesday this'll be fun as I'm working
