Is the covid travel passport not a thing any more?

We travelled to the Netherlands this week - it wasn't our final destination, but we flew in and out of Schiphol. The FCO website says "Fully vaccinated UK nationals who can provide acceptable proof of vaccination, which includes the NHS COVID Pass, are allowed to enter the Netherlands."

We had our passes. Nobody asked to see them. Nobody at the airport even mentioned covid, or testing, or vaccination. Are other countries just not bothered any more?

(to be clear, the Dutch attitude to covid was refreshing, no masks, very much business as usual). I am not agitating for more restrictions.

I visited Rome last month, the certificate was checked on arrival at passport control and again on departure before going through security. Mask wearing was very strict.

And in Cyprus this week it was scanned when we got off the plane before being allowed to enter the airport terminal. Mask wearing is required indoors but it was more relaxed and whilst hotel staff were wearing masks, guests were only half bothering.

Thanks @KnitPurlKnitPurl Interesting to see how much it still varies in different parts of the UK.

The regulations in Ital changed on May 1st.

Yes, mask wearing has relaxed a lot in Italy since May 1st - FFP2 still required on public transport but no longer in supermarkets, museums, the airport etc. However we flew with Easyjet to Italy in April and no one checked our vaccination status at the airport then either; they were strict about masks though.

artisanbread France changed their criteria, you can take a pcr test 72 hours before or lat flows 48 hours.

Yes, DD had to do an antigen test as she had only had 1st vaccine dose, but nobody checked the rest result either.

@walkersareback yes it was the covid nhs app, we had to show it after passport control as we went to baggage claim. Masks were mandatory on the flight but I think that was just Ryanair regulations and we had to wear masks on buses but it was really relaxed everywhere else, hardly saw any masks

It may not be everywhere, but I think you should be prepared. I am going to France in a few weeks, and it is still required for medical treatment.

Booklover3 · 25/05/2022 00:18

We went to Turkey. Not one person asked to see it.

So I'm now freaking out. We're traveling to the Netherlands on the ferry from Newcastle at the beginning of June. My wife is unvaccinated. We've both had Covid and recovered but didn't do a pcr test (as it was during the later stages of covid when the guidance was that you didn't need to). Our local GP has given us a letter for proof of recovery but its not the official NHS digital version that it says you're supposed to have. I've got this nightmare scenario where we turn up to baord the boat with them kids in the car and we're turned away. Anyone had any recent experience they could share?

AnyFucker · 15/06/2022 22:57

Flew to Balearics and had our covid passes scanned on landing. A couple of medical people hanging around too.

I flew to Portugal yesterday with all my vacc certs printed out. No one anywhere ( flight or passport control) was asked to show this although Ryan air still insisted on masks. Someone in front of me claimed to be exempt ( I know she was lying as I heard her and her boyfriend discussing it in the queue!) She said she had forgotten her lanyard but they said that wasn't acceptable and she needed a doctors letter and was promptly guided to a machine where she could buy a mask! I was very surprised how insistent they still were!
