Motion Sickness after Covid

Loopzy · 19/05/2022 15:22

Has anyone started with motion sickness after covid? It's not something I have suffered with, since I was a child, but since I had covid, I'm struggling to go even short distances, without feeling nauseous. It can affect me for days after too.

I have a trip booked, which involves a long coach journey and I'm not sure it's worth going, knowing how ill it will make me.

Does anyone have any tips for managing travel sickness please or could recommend any tablets that would help?

Thanks

I should also add that have seen my GP who has prescribed Prochlorperazine, but this hasn't helped.

Could you try different over the counter medication? There are a few different active ingredients, I believe

All the over the counter ones I've looked at have the same active ingredient and not sure if they actually work. I used to take something called Joyrides when I was a child and they didn't help.

If anyone could recommend something that has worked for them, I would be extremely grateful. I can only manage a 20 minute car journey now.

You can take certain medication at the same time - maybe see your gp. There’s avomine otc (although that knocks me out!). Check dose for prochloroperazine- I take 10mg dose but I think you can take up to 20mg - might be worth checking as it’s usually quite effective. Try wearing the special arm bands too. There’s an audio track called nevasic (spelling may be wrong) that’s suppose to do something to your ears to help car sickness when played through headphones too.

Also, often the medicine you have to take a while before you get in the car

Ginger ! It’s great for that. Raw

@Reastie Thanks for your reply. I am only taking 5mg Prochlorperazine 3 times a day, but it says I can increase to 10mg if required - this is for constant nausea. I have read the instructions and for the treatment of feeling or being sick, it says to take 20mg followed by 10mg 2 hours later. I am confused why I have been put on the lower dose now, I can only think it is because I am on other medication which can make me drowsy.

I have tried the bands with morning sickness and didn't find they helped at all, but I am intrigued by the app, I'll definitely look into that!

Thanks @Samarie123 This probably sounds a daft question, but do I eat the ginger, or make a drink with it?

Ginger people ginger sweets are really good. You can get them from Amazon, Holland & Barrett and so on.
