Question on booster

Apologies if this has been posted before- I have had 2 Pfizer vaccines, second dose in Oct. I tested positive for covid 15 days back - do I still need a booster? Doesn’t my covid act as a booster?

Not ‘my’ covid - what I meant was my covid positive result act as a booster.

It may boost your immune system but I'd still get the booster so that you would show as fully vaccinated. Think you are supposed to wait 4 weeks after a positive test

TomAllenWife · 19/05/2022 09:42

You will still need your booster, especially if travelling
But I think you need to leave it 28 days

MyGiddyAunt1 · 19/05/2022 09:52

Thank you @dementedpixie @TomAllenWife

i was not aware countries are still checking? I thought all that was dropped!

No, lots of countries are still asking for proof of vaccination

I've been asked for proof of my booster at every airport I've been to this year.
Particularly strict in US / Caribbean

MyGiddyAunt1 · 19/05/2022 11:01

What if you didn’t have the booster? Do I have to submit a negative result?

Depends where you are going
Spain for e.g. doesnt accept a test for entry unless you're age 12-17. It does accept a recovery certificate but I think you can only get that if you get a positive PCR rather than LFT

The US and Canada still require full vaccination

Scianel · 20/05/2022 13:36

Spain are about to change criteria so that you can test instead. In Europe I think that pretty much just leaves Germany and the Netherlands that require vaccination for entry.
US and Canada are stricter though it's true.

I'm pretty sure USA only requires 2 dose (primary full sequence). So OP would be admitted to USA with just her 2 doses. Boosters are just a bonus thing in USA. Whereas in Europe, some countries required 3rd dose if the 2nd dose was > 9 months old.

Rules change all the time. I only got a 3rd dose recently to reliably get into Spain (end of month)
