Hi all

I've had covid all week. Still testing Postive but had it for 7 days now anyway...

My almost 3 year old has today shown some mild symptoms although tested negative but I'm still really really panicked at the thought of him testing positive and being poorly.

Anyone else's toddler tested positive? How was the experience for them?

Thank you!!!!

Hi. Hope your feeling ok physically. Not toddler but my DS6 had it not so long ago. He had a slight temp for 24hrs and felt grotty, but 48hrs in he was bouncing off the walls like a mad man again.

Like you I was really worried but all was well. Chickenpox on the other hand floored him.

Daisycat76 · 07/05/2022 19:13

Most children seem to bounce back from covid very quickly, it doesn't affect them too badly - I work with young children who've had it and they're often completely fine after a day or two. Don't worry too much - I'm sure your DC will be ok!

TulipsGarden · 07/05/2022 19:17

My three year old has had it twice - both times just had a high fever for a day and then snotty/tired for another couple of days. He has asthma so I was a bit worried but he was absolutely fine well before he was testing negative and back at nursery.

The first time he had it he was actually better before we got the PCR result back!

Thank you both! I've just put him to bed and he sounds a little horse & snotty / blocked nose so I can only assume it's my covid. Bit of a weird coincidence to be anything else 😭

I'm a lot better thank you! It was just like a nasty cold really. A cough on a day 5 which has now gone! Just getting rid of the dregs of it now! After 2.5 years I thought I was safe 😂

My 3 year old had it last year and it was just like a cold.

LoveSpringDaffs · 07/05/2022 19:26

Most of them seem to bounce back very quickly, thankfully!!

Personally I'd have him in my bed tonight, just so I could listen out for him though.

hope you're both feeling much better tomorrow x

Thank you! & good idea @LoveSpringDaffs x

My toddler was quiet for an afternoon and that was the total impact on him. When it did the rounds at his nursery again, they said it was mainly like a short D&V bug for the children.

Toottooot · 07/05/2022 19:46

My 2 year old suffered worse with most colds - absolutely nothing coming over them.

TheFormidableMrsC · 07/05/2022 19:54

I can give you child experience but not toddlers. My DS (just turned 11) was one of the last in his class to test positive which happened last week. He had a morning of a headache and a bit of an upset tummy in the afternoon. Was right as rain the next day. Still testing positive 10 days later but school wanted him back after five as they consider not infectious.

My friend has 3 kids, all primary. They've all had it asymptomatically four times. I understand your fear but largely kids seem to bat it off. Try not to panic.

Thank you everyone! Really helpful! I'm going to sleep in a fold out bed in my sons room to be sure! But I am a very anxious person sadly but that's another story lol

I get it. We are all still dealing with an unknown virus as it were. I'm absolutely sure you'll both have a decent nights sleep and all will be well Flowers

StrawberryLace2 · 07/05/2022 22:16

My (just) 4 year old has had it a few weeks ago, he had temperatures and a few days of watching tv on the sofa and not eating much but after 2-3 days was totally back to himself,
I slept in his room and panicked about him not eating etc but he's absolutely fine as have all his friend been who have had it recently
Try. It to worry and get some sleep

icecreamcart · 08/05/2022 07:57

Don't worry. I was worried too but mine bounced back.

winniesanderson · 08/05/2022 08:02

My 3 year old has had it recently, she had a bit of a runny nose but was otherwise her usual self by day. We did have a few nights where she was coughing all night and she was occasionally sick with it. I was a bit worried the first night of this because she had periods where she didn't get much reprieve between coughing episodes - but overall she was less unwell than when she's had other illnesses.

Notdoingthis · 08/05/2022 08:07

It's very unusual for a toddler to be very ill with Covid.
My 4 year old had a cough for a week or so but was absolutely fine.

ivfbabymomma1 · 08/05/2022 08:11

Thank you all, he has had a full night sleep. No temp yet just a cough & snotty / blocked nose! Will do another test today!

LeeMucklowesCurtains · 08/05/2022 14:18

My then 18 month old pointed to her head while crying a couple of times so I assume she had a headache. Other than that, she was just snotty and miserable for a few days. No temp, no cough.

Odds are he will be just fine after a couple of days of having a cold, but I know it’s hard not to worry.

ivfbabymomma1 · 17/05/2022 07:56

If anyone is in the same boat and worried... my son has had far worse colds! Teething was worse. If he did have covid (I gave us testing but we isolated as a family) it was the most mild sniffle! And lasted about 2 days!

My 18 month old had it a little while ago. She was snotty and tired (spent one day cuddled up to me, mostly napping), and had a bit ofa cough but bounced back really quickly. To be honest, she had a cold about a month before and her symptoms were pretty much identical for both. We only knew she had Covid because we both did!
