Positive test yesterday and I'm feeling worse and worse as each hour passes. Nothing dramatic, just flu like symptoms, but I've got two small DC and I'm desperate to feel better.

Lemsip plus ibuprofen isn't cutting it.

I know I have to just ride it out, but if you found anything helped I'd be happy with a placebo!

Defiantly a placebo but caffeine. Im largely asymptomatically positive for a 2nd time. Both times it's been a typical virus one night of night sweats then tired for a few days.

Tons and tons and tons of water, and Jakemans cough sweets.

Just tested positive and paracetamol seems to be working very well for the fever. Covonia for the cough also doing it's job. Then the old traditional head over steaming hot water basin with a drop of olbas works a treat for bedtime. Hope you feel better soon.

Vicks at night. Wet flannel as hot as you can stand over your face or folded over nose. Shower as hot as you can stand and clear your nose while you're in there.

For me sitting outside in the garden helped. Vick on my feet at night and steam.

My daughter took paracetamol which helped her headaches. She was downed by Covid for ten days last month.

We gave her lots of soup with veggies and beans in it. She lost her huge appetite.

She's fine now. No long term arfects.

Day nurse capsules in the day (every four hours but no more than three doses) then night nurse a hour before bed. It's the only thing that works for me and the shops own/any other cold/flu tablets don't have the same ingredients so are not as effective. Actually boots might do their own with the same generic drugs, but check the ingredients!

Pennox · 30/04/2022 13:34

Lemsip max or sudafed max - the one with 3 ingredients in, gauanefisin or whatever it is called being one of them helped me the most. Sudafed max helped. Other than that sleep and rest which isn't easy I know!

Long term recovery, vitamin b12 patches helped with the crippling fatigue in the following weeks.

Pennox · 30/04/2022 13:37

Yes as per pp you need the cold and flu sachets or tablets that have the 3 ingredients in. The supermarket or superdrug ones do have a version but you have to get the Max strength ones. Has Gauanefisin or whatever instead of caffeine as the third ingredient (get the caffeine from cans and tea or coffee for during the day or when can't sleep).

Paracetamol and strepsils worked for my incredibly sore throat, nothing really worked for the cough despite my attempts.

Window open and an extra blanket to help ride out the hot Vs cold dilemma.

It was my cough that bugged me the most because nothing seemed to work to stop me coughing, especially at night. I had so much mucus which didn't help.

2 weeks later and it's like it never happened, took about 1 day to get over the hot and cold and achyness, a couple of days for the sore throat and about a week for the cough.
