I am due to travel to France soon with my daughter who has just turned 12. I am fully vaccinated, she isn't. She had covid recently although it was just a reported lateral flow. The advice is really confusing. On one hand it says if the adult is vaccinated then the accompanying child is treated the same, but other advice indicates she might need a test before travel. Can anyone advise? Thanks.

If your daughter is 12, she either needs to be fully vaccinated or she needs to provide a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours or an antigen test result taken within 48 hours pre-departure. According to the FCO, who do regularly update their advice when the rules change, so it should be pretty reliable:

I live in France. If she's had covid in the last 2 months and has the certificate she is ok.

dementedpixie · 29/04/2022 19:02

She won't get a certificate from an LFT test though, that requires a PCR

dementedpixie · 29/04/2022 19:03

So it's an LFT or PCR before travel for her

Here is the official French website

If the LFT positive result is recorded on Gov uk web site you will be able to get a certificate of recovery

Recently travelled to France

they didn’t ask anyone for proof of tests or vax certs

hopeishere · 01/05/2022 10:18

A friend was turned away for not having the right paperwork going to France. Her son had only one vax does and the had covid but she didn't bring a recovery cert.

Any one use Eurotunnel recently, do they require proof? Does double jabbed, but not boosted, count as unvaccinated?

Depends when the 2nd dose was. Often if it's more than 270 days since the 2nd dose then they require a booster dose.

Just back from France via euro tunnel. We had to upload vaccine certificates to complete booking on line. Our 13 yo had only one vaccine because she had covid so couldn’t get her second. We did antigen test (£45) 48 hrs before travel.

once there no one asked for vaccine certificates to get into restaurants etc.

Thanks for the information x

Just to update the thread. I arranged for her to have a LFT the day before travel. We flew on easyjet. The covid check consisted of an easyjet staff member saying 'Fully vaccinated, yeh?' as I entered the gate before boarding. She didn't even ask DD. No request to see vaccination pass. No checks on French side.

A friend travelled on Eurostar and was asked for their vaccine pass, so I guess it depends on who you travel with.

We didn't have any requests to see vaccine / test status whilst in France.

They are still wearing masks (fabric mask fine) on public transport, but no where else. Easyjet are very strict on you having a surgical mask on the plane.
