Vaccine after testing positive

Am I right in thinking that you have to wait 28 days after testing positive/start of symptoms before having vaccine.
Dd just tested positive and was booked for second vaccine this week but obviously won’t be able to have it now.
Does the positive result not go on your nhs records now? And if so how does that happen if you can’t get a pcr?

If she’s tested positive on LFT you need to log the result.

If she’s 12-15 it’s a 12 week wait, 28 days us for adults.

My 7yos were able to rebook their appointment for 4 weeks later. Dh is immunosuppressed though so not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks she’s over 18 so 4 weeks then.
Are people still registering positive tests generally?

If she is wanting the positive test registered for travel purposes I’m not sure there is much point doing it because after she gets the second vaccine then the date of that will be used on the covid passport. That’s if it’s not scrapped altogether soon. Who knows what might happen.

28 days for adults. I believe it's longer for under 18's though. Not sure on exact figure though sorry ☺️

ReviewingTheSituation · 27/04/2022 15:30

I'm not even sure you can log a positive result on the gov site now, unless it's on one of the old free tests? I'm sure I read/heard that if you're using a paid for test then it isn't accepted to be counted in Gov figures/to match up with your other data. But I may need to stand corrected on that one!

RoofFlower · 27/04/2022 18:39

Why do you even have to wait 28 days? What if you have covid but don’t know and get the vaccine?
Not that there is any rush here. Just wondered why.

If you have covid and get the vaccine you might suffer side effects and feel more ill as your immune system is having to work extra hard.

RoofFlower · 27/04/2022 18:56

Is it something to do with affecting the efficacy of the vaccine if you have it while there are remnants of the infection still in your body and the immune response?
