Covid tongue!

Last week I thought I'd scalded my tongue on hot coffee or food because it felt burnt. That feeling got worse and worse since then with all food hurting to eat. My cheeks felt a bit swollen on the inside and when I looked at my tongue, I noticed some parts of it were a different colour pink in certain patches. I also had blood blisters on my tongue and cheeks. I looked it up and it seems as if there's actually a "Covid tongue" and it matched my description. I'm waking up with a completely dry mouth for the last few weeks too.
Has anyone else had this and does it take long to ease?

Have you had / Got Covid?

I had covid about a month ago and still have this problem with my tongue. But the dry mouth is easing.

Yes got it in March and had "got better" but then relapsed. The cough, sinus, aches, exhaustion, sweats and low fever returned, along with "Covid tongue". 😥

I haven't had covid and have had this for about a month now, when it first started I had a very bad non-covid virus which wiped me put for a few days. I assumed it was from that virus.

Yeah I've had a weird tongue. Spoke to the doctor today who said sounds normal and phone back in 3 weeks if it isn't going off 😬

We had covid tongue February/March 2020, when nothing was known about covid and no testing. Didn't recognise it as covid because it wasn't on the list then but I know now that's what it was.

We've had covid so many times now, each time with different symptoms.

@Treaclepie19 I can't remember now, but think perhaps no more than two weeks. I keep wondering just how many different symptoms of covid there are that we still don't know about, and what the long term effects on our health is of repeated infections. Long covid is too much of a general description for the things we're left with.

Treaclepie19 · 26/04/2022 14:02

Thanks @IntricateRhyme
I've not reached two weeks yet so I'll keep hopeful. It's annoying.

Yeah there's definitely that worry. It's bizarre really that we're all just getting on with it. I suppose many viruses do the same but we're not aware of it.
When I spoke to the Dr he suggested that these symptoms could go on for weeks and often many viruses can give you random symptoms like a weird tongue. I've never had this before 😬

Mine is improving now after a week, but not totally gone.
