I think this is fairly common. You could have a look at this about covid skin symptoms. covidskinsigns.com/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=zoe_covid_study&utm_campaign=15_April_2022_GB

Me! I’ve been negative two weeks now and still get itchy arms and chest/ stomach. It’s not as bad as it was but drives me mad

octoegg · 16/04/2022 08:44

A family member has this, over their whole body and so far haven't found much relief. Dr prescribed an antihistamine tablet and they're also using antihistamine cream which takes the edge off, but following in case anyone has any other suggestions as they're so uncomfortable. Had covid 3-4 weeks ago.

dudsville · 16/04/2022 08:48

I didn't know about this, but I've had urticaria off and on since second dose of the vaccine. Never before in my life until now. It's so uncomfortable always being itchy and blotchy.

I had itchy red rash after Covid. It lasted about 4 weeks. Drove me mad and looked horrible but eventually went.

Same here. 10 months of it. Day in day out. Nothing really relieves it. It’s affecting my whole life. Waiting for a dermatology referral. I was referred in Jan bu apparently won’t be seen til Jan/Feb next year. Never had COVID that I know off. Docs think it’s a vaccine reaction

Covid can trigger mast cell activation syndrome, or histamine intolerance. If you search for those you will find some help, some helpful Facebook groups.

@Bexs2247, after multiple gp appts I was prescribed 180mg fexofanafine, then saw the dermatologist who confirmed the dose and said I could double and then triple if need be. I doubled it for a bit and the urticaria cleared after a few weeks so I stopped. It's just come back over the last weeks so I'm now working on building back up to the double dose. I was told I could stay on fexofenadine ongoing but I didn't like the thought of taking medicine daily so I stopped when I was free of the rash. The med though is meant to be preventative so I'm now considering it. I just bought some on line for the first time and the questions included one asking if I was aware that this dosage was only for urticaria. Of course one should never take advice re medication from internet strangers. I'm just letting you know what my process led me to.

Thanks. I’ve got another docs telephone appointment on Friday so I’ll ask about that one. I’ve got a strong antihistamine (can’t remember what it’s called but behind with h) which is prescription only. I can only take it at night as it makes me sleepy. Doesn’t last all through the night though as I wake up at 2/3am itching and doesn’t help during the day. It’s a nightmare to be honest. Can’t exercise properly as sweat makes me itch, water, even cool water, makes me itchy, putting all the creams on makes me itch and not putting them on makes me itch.

Sorry OP didn’t mean to hijack the thread either!

Fairly common, take anti histamine which seems to help. I know 2 people who had it with the jab too.

User7493268965 · 17/04/2022 04:36

Adult DS had similar as his only symptom, he had covid at Christmas, I know it lasted a month or two, not sure if it has cleared up now as I haven't asked him recently, he took antihistamine to relieve it a bit.

dudsville · 17/04/2022 07:50

@Bexs2247, the first gp mistakenly prescribed 120mg and it did nothing, so keep that in mind. Good luck Friday.

Starrr123 · 04/05/2023 09:02

@dudsville hi! Ive been prescribed 180mg and they said i can take 4 a day: i read online that people take 2 in the mornin. And it helps? Is that what you done? I go away next week and need to sort my skin out x

Starrr123 · 04/05/2023 09:03

@Bexs2247 how are you now ? X

Better than I was. I’ve had to cut out chocolate too to help make it better!! I still have days when I flare up and am really itchy

Starrr123 · 04/05/2023 09:10

@bex so u never got to the bottom of it? I think chocolate also makes me worse!!!
how long did you have the itching/rash go on for? Xx

CoffeeWithCheese · 04/05/2023 09:40

I've had it since the second jab - never found a solution other than whacking the antihistamine tablets out when it really flares up and living with it and having hand creams everywhere just to distract from the itch.

Not really. I finally had a dermatology appointment in March and they did a skin biopsy a few weeks ago. No results yet. Currently having a bit of a flare up but I have had chocolate too and I know it aggravates it (never used to be a problem before my jabs!). So back to no chocolate again now

How funny. I still get hives almost a year on. Also think it’s vaccine related.
