Long covid symptoms from recent waves and after vax?

I tested positive for covid just over 4 months ago; I was double vaxxed but not boosted (tested positive just as I booked to have booster). It was my first time with covid. My initial symptoms were pretty mild, and I felt pretty recover after 10 days, but about 4-5 weeks after testing positive, I began to experience ‘long covid’ symptoms including tinnitus, shortness of breath, insomnia, this weird anxiety feeling, numbness/tingling and headaches. I know a lot of people who have had covid in the last few months, some of whom were not yet boostered, but everyone seems to have made a full recovery, even if it took a couple of months. I was a very fit 38 year old, so surprised that even after my double vax, I developed these symptoms. Have you heard of anyone else in this position?

It varies by age and other factors, but long covid is very common.

In the US some hospitals have established special units to assess and treat long covid patients. Can you find out from your GP if there is a clinic like that in your area?

We had covid about 8 weeks ago. Wouldn’t call ours long covid exactly, but for what it’s worth…

Me double vax Pfizer and no booster, him double vax with AZ and boosted with Moderna.

During covid he felt v poorly, I felt abs fine apart from achy joints. Neither of us had cough or temp. DC (not vax) had cough, temp, felt sick and v itchy skin with rash.

Now all of us feel back to normal but every 3/4 days or so we suddenly feel complete exhaustion, its very weird. Like I’ll go to a shop and then feel I’ve done a marathon. Need a lie down after the school run. DC occasionally dizzy and v pale, they are noticeably low energy. None of us get out of breath but just pale and drained.

Not loving it and don’t know when will all end.

I had all your symptoms (apart from shortness of breath) and more the first time round. Gradually improved over months. This time, I didn't have covid long enough ago to count as 'long covid' but some of my symptoms like tinnitus, headaches, have returned. The main thing I've noticed this time is, despite feeling completely better a few days ago, I've all of a sudden been hit with this overwhelming tiredness. I've never experienced anything like it in my life.

Thanks all, it’s so frustrating, one of my main reasons for getting vaxxed was to avoid long covid...

@user1471443411 - how long did your long covid symptoms last for first time round?

Hi, I was the same. Double vaxxed but crippling exhaustion, brain fog etc. Symptoms at their worst for first 2-3 months. Still v tired 6 months on but improving slowly.

Welcome to long Covid club… Sad

I have long Covid since before the vax was available and I’m still housebound though it took a while to get that bad as I didn’t listen to my body when I kept getting tired.

Hopefully the vaccine will mean this is shorter lived than those of us who got LC in the first wave…

I think Gez Medinger on Twitter may have done a YouTube video re pre and post vaccine long Covid. (He’s working with Professor Altman - who is working on the antibodies - on a book re long Covid).

Medinger might also refer to using antihistamines which might be useful for your presentation? (There was a study… Fexafenadine iirc)

I’ve had this for nearly 18 months and I’ve found that REALLY RADICAL pacing is one of my most effective interventions to date.

Resting in between doing everything has been a small game changer for me. As has trying to keep my heart rate low…

I've been ill for a year but we don't know if it's long Covid because I've never tested positive for Covid. It coincided with my first vaccine then a blood test showed I had a current Epstein Barr infection. I'm so fed up of being exhausted all the time but the tinnitus is awful.

I've still got swollen glands and just generally feel ill.

Hi I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing what I am after having Covid... I had Covid at the beginning of April and was asymptomatic. Over the last two weeks I've noticed my leg muscles mainly calf's and sometimes my thigh twitching. I can feel it and then when I look I can see it flickering too. Anyone else had this? I'm really worried.

Hi. I just wanted to say I was left with all these symptoms after my first covid vaccine last year. Anxiety and tingling didn’t last long. Didn’t have shortness of breath. The insomnia lasted four months but stopped as soon as I started 600mg n acetyl cysteine before bed. Still got buzzing in the head now but ringing in ears much better and antihistamine helps reduce that. Some people’s tinnitus goes away and other people seem to be stuck with it although intensity decreases. Low histamine diet can help and eating anti inflammatory foods. Hope you feel better soon.

Unfortunately long covid still seems to happen after vaccination despite what people might say/ think. Incidence is reduced.
above I didn’t mean I’d had one vaccine and then got covid and long covid. I developed long covid from my vaccine. It’s referred to by investigating scientists as vax induced long haul and is much less common than post covid.
