Dd aged 8 has first vax tomorrow...not looking for opinions on having it or not..respect peoples views but there a a number of reasons that this is the right choice for dd. Just wondered if anyone's littler kids had had it recently and what side effects were like..just to prep myself.

None for us.

rhizobium · 13/04/2022 23:27

None for my DNs either

SpaghettiHettie · 13/04/2022 23:31

Ds is 11. He had a slight sore arm for a day or so and felt abit tired. He had his jab on Sunday, had a lazy day Monday, back to normal Tuesday.

LargeglassofRosePlease · 13/04/2022 23:31

Not giving it to mine either

We're both fully vaccinated but not giving it to the children

rhizobium · 13/04/2022 23:34

@LargeglassofRosePlease

Not giving it to mine either

We're both fully vaccinated but not giving it to the children

To be clear my post (and I think also @Incapacitateds) were saying no side effects, not no vaccines Grin

None here, DD had hers on Saturday and she's been fine.

thehillswerebright · 13/04/2022 23:43

My youngest had a really really sore arm after.... I mean it wasn't the arm she got the jag in and it only seemed to come on when I asked her to do something, so I suspect it wasn't related 😂 really though both my kids were a bit grumpy the day after, not sure if related or not.

Cryingbutstilltrying · 13/04/2022 23:53

No issues at all with either of my kids.

YeahNahWhal · 14/04/2022 00:06

Slightly sore arm for a day in my 7 and 11 year olds. Not a problem

queenjaneappro · 14/04/2022 00:06

DS 8 had it Monday - been absolutely fine, not even a sore arm.

BusMum79 · 14/04/2022 00:11

My two DS (8&6) both had it on Saturday afternoon. I gave Calpol straight after and at bedtime. They both slept soundly and had slightly sore arms when they woke up- otherwise fine. The 6yo then developed a fever after 24 hours & was a little shivery. I gave him Calpol again and put him to bed. He slept for 13 hours and woke up feeling fine on Monday morning. Fine since. 8yo totally fine throughout.
Also just to say the experience of actually getting the vaccine was brilliant where we were - they really put the kids at ease and it was very positive all round.
Good luck!

BusMum79 · 14/04/2022 00:13

Also just to add it was a low-grade fever for him, he had a very bad (non covid) virus a few weeks ago and has been pretty wiped out since, so I’m not surprised he had a slightly stronger reaction than his brother.

Jules912 · 14/04/2022 08:59

DD 6 just had a sore arm for a couple of days. She said she was a bit tired but that mostly came on when I asked her to do something so...

Ululavit · 14/04/2022 09:02

Sore arm the day after which needed Calpol.

They were wonderful with her - balloons, certificate, choice of free books and so much kindness.

Clareyck · 14/04/2022 09:44

7 year old, nearly 8, had his on Monday evening. Absolutely zero side effects, not even a sore arm, and believe me if he had the slightest hint of anything I would know all about it. Grin

LostMySocks · 14/04/2022 09:54

Mine are 6 and 8 and have both had first jab. 8 year old had a sore arm for a day or so.
6 year old was a pickle about having the jab so the lovely vaccinator did it pre school jab style in his leg. He spent the rest of the day running and climbing....except when asked to do anything when he started limping and moaning about the pain.....in the non jab leg....

littlegiant · 14/04/2022 10:56

I didn't realise primary kids were having it?

dollywoodlooksgood · 15/04/2022 07:52

Primary kids have been able to book online since the start of April. DD had it (9), was fine. Slightly sore arm. Good experience at vax centre. We used Emla cream beforehand as she was a bit nervous.

Clareyck · 15/04/2022 16:46

Just to report back appointment was fine, staff were lovely and 24 hours later no side affects other than her arm hurting when she barged in to the net on the trampoline....thanks guys for all the reassurance
