Positive random test without sympoms

Well, we finally got the "bicho" in our household.

My youngest son (17) is immunocompromised. He works part time in the disability sector and has to test twice a week as part of his work.

He tested negative last Friday and to our surprised, positive today. He has no symtoms at all and received his 4th vaccination (the booster) 6 weeks ago. I contacted his specialist immediately and he's changed some of his medication. If he develops any symtoms even if small to contact him again so my son can go to hospital to receive an IV infusion. He has contacted the community nurse which will be in contact with us tommorrow.

DH, middle son and myself have tested negative and frankly not sure what to expect. Windows have been open all day to make sure there is plenty of ventilation but apart from it, I don't really know what to do.

Has anyone given positive to random testive without symtoms?

Where my son works, about 20 people, they all still test twice a week. Someone tested positive, so advised everyone to test and 6 more were positive, but none had any symptoms and stayed symptomless all through isolation. I would say they are all under 30.

Hopefully your Son stays symptom free and maybe his 4th vaccination has helped.

My husband (3 vaccines) and several of his colleagues all got Covid from an asymptomatic colleague. They have pretty much all passed it on to their spouses. This is why it's important to keep testing and wearing a mask. I hope your son sails through it without any problems.

I did a test as a precaution before visiting someone who is ECV. It was positive but I didn't get any symptoms until two days later.

The virus seems to work in many different ways Confused

Yes my daughter. She had covid with mild symptoms early Jan. Tested 9 weeks later because my mum was in hospital and she was positive again! She was negative much quicker on lateral flows the second time!

Thank you all. Covid symtoms seem to be so random doesn't it?

Crossing my fingers DS can sail through his positive. I've always been so worried about his immunocompromised health that I'm worried. Because it was random testing I don't know if the test picked up the virus early on and the symtoms are going to develop later.

Well I hope he stays symptom free but most people are positive and infectious for a day or two before symptoms appear.

If he sails through it will be an immense relief for you for the future.

My DS was entirely symptom free. Unfortunately, as he's not allowed in work without 2 negative tests, he tested positive for 15 days. Feeling perfectly well and getting very behind on the work, which has to be done on site.

Hope all is well for your son and it turns out to be nothing. Our household all tested on Christmas Eve, two positives- we all went straight for PCR tests and ALL of us came back negative, no symptoms developed and no more positive lateral flows that week.

The doctor has said he has to remain in isolation for 14 days because his immune system. Usually it's 7 days and work will need a negative test on his first day back.

I'm not too worried about work (they are really good) or his isolation (he's loving being in his room with his phone, tablet and Playstation while being pampered like a king with meals and medication delivered) I'm just worried about how Covid will affect him in the next few days, I know he's young, he's had all his jabs ....but I'm still worried.
