Groundhog Day: 2nd doses for the vulnerable 5-11 year olds

Are people getting their second doses OK or it is being as much hassle as getting the first dose?

Ds had his first dose 7 and a bit weeks ago. He is eligible at 8 weeks for his second dose.
119 is operating on a 12 week schedule as is standard for the ordinary group. The first appointment the online system will offer is in mid May.
Our nearest walk in is over 30 miles away.
The clinic that did his first has closed down.
He hasn't got a consultant as his eligibility is because of me.

I'm struggling to get an appointment for our little one, in same situation as you. 119 will only book 12 weeks from last dose too. No clinics sooner at our GP.

Hoping some more open up soon.

Ah that's saved me a phone call then Sundown. Thanks.
I went round this loop for my 15 year old's first two jabs and ds's first. Why are they making this so difficult?!

You should be able to attend a walk in at 8 weeks with some proof of your immunosuppression. Find a walk in which does 5-11s here

Over 30 miles away Wigeon. That was my first thought.

Ah sorry, just saw your nearest walk in is 30 miles away. I’d check the website every few days as other walk ins might become available.

119 also have a list of contacts in your local healh system to help you get your 5-11 vaccinated - might be worth calling up and asking about that? Even if your own GP isn’t doing jabs, they should be able to put you in touch with another local GP, or tell you if a walk in is going to open up more locally.

That's useful thanks. Yes have been checking the walk in clinics very regularly.

I had this with my DT 12 year olds (who were being vacinated because one was vulnerable and they also live with two ecv). I was passed back and forth between gp and 119. In the end I rang my ccg and within 24 hours we had an appointment. The same happened again for the booster (although I rang ccg straight away after rejection from gp/119). It appears that these vulnerable groups are struggling to be vaccinated because they're not in line with the rest of their age group.
