Oh that's interesting.

Mine went bonkers in 2020 before I'd ever had a covid test so wouldn't have known if I'd had it or not. It was worse than I've ever had it before (and I've been hospitalised), from top of my head to soles of my feet. I was extremely unwell also with a flare up of psoriatic arthritis.

What meds do you have, if you don't me asking? I had to completely switch regimes.

Oh no 😩
That’s sounds awful

I have psa as well but I try to manage it through diet because I couldn’t cope with methotrexate (psychologically). My hands went really stiff just before I came down with it which I assume was an inflammatory response 🙄

I am obviously just dreading a huge flare up - I was so bad lost after I had a baby that I couldn’t get dressed. I really should have been hospitalised. This thing is wrecking my life.

I haven't had covid but have psoriasis and had my biggest flare up ever after my second AZ vaccination.

I was living abroad at the time and was forced, pretty much to have the two jabs very close together.

As a result I was extremely anxious when I had my Pfizer booster in the UK when I moved back and the nurse who gave me my booster said she believed there was a link between covid and psoriasis and having 2 AZ jabs close together aggravated mine.

Cornettoninja · 02/04/2022 18:22

It varies quite a lot I think. I have quite bad psoriasis (maybe 20% on legs/5% arms and a bit of scalp sprinkled in there), not on any hardcore treatments and haven’t noticed a particular worsening with either the vaccine or infection of covid.

Pretty certain I have psa but couldn’t get a referral pre covid never mind now but anything I would attribute to that hasn’t noticeably worsened.

If I were you I’d up my vitamins (particularly D after the winter) and at the very least speak to the GP/dermatologist about getting some steroid cream.

I’m sure you’ve been recommended hundreds of random creams by people but to add one to the list I find t-gel used on body patches can make a massive difference. You’re not really meant to use it like that (it’s a carcinogenic) according to the instructions and can’t use it for too long but if you’re really struggling maybe it’s worth a go?

@GettinPiggyWithIt, I was able to completely skip the methotrexate stage and go straight onto a biologic called Adalimumab - this treats both the posriasis and the psoriatic arthritis - alongside Enstilar foam* for localised outbreaks on my skin.

*Enstilar = calcipotriol and betamethosane, and can be prescribed now by GP

I've already had far too much UV treatment/exposure and have had a basal cell carcinoma, so this new treatment regime of Adalimumab + Enstilar suits me reasonably well. I also take Vit D supplements, folic acid and B12 sub-lingual tablets, and take general care because biologics are immune-suppressants.

Hope this is of some interest / help Flowers

I haven't had covid but I have developed what I think is psoriasis since my vaccination. (My dr thinks it's psoriasis but I have an appointment with a dermatologist next week to confirm).

RedderThanEver · 03/04/2022 13:17

Mine has been bad since covid and the vaccines, painful.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 03/04/2022 13:27

I've had three primary vaccines, and then a booster in January.

I can't say I'm particularly thrilled at the thought of a 2nd booster (i.e. 5th jab) this spring/summer (or whenever). But I'm worried about catching covid too quite badly and having a mega-flare.

Finchgold · 03/04/2022 13:28

Yes, I’ve got covid just now and my psoriasis is flaring badly. I’ve been trying to manage it without steroids this year but if it doesn’t resolve once I’m out of isolation I might do a few weeks of Enstilla.

Before Covid and I had a massive bout of psoriasis triggered by a chest infection. Scalp to toes, including eats and resulting in a horrendous ear infection from the scales and perforated ear drum. First time ever had it. Took Acitretin to control it as well as many topical immunosuppressants and steroids. But it completely cleared up before Covid was a thing.
I was petrified of a relapse with Covid but I did test positive once and felt very unwell but so far no recurrence of the psoriasis.
But I can totally understand the link. Infection caused my first bout.
