He's 8 days today. Line very faint and he has no temp. My dad had it 2 weeks ago and has been jabbed but I still feel uneasy but they are due to go to the football today both looking forward to it. Do you think he's over the most infectious period? It's so hard trying to keep up with new guidance and change our mindset 😭

If he still has two lines then he’s still infectious and can pass covid on to grandad

Lilaclavenders · 02/04/2022 12:41

Your ds is most certainly over his most infectious.
But at the end of the day your father has to decide how risk averse he is. Covid is everywhere so even if your son is no longer contagious, other people around him may well be.

livinthedream1995 · 02/04/2022 12:42

I’d leave it up to your dad to decide, tell him the situation and let him make the decision as to what he wants to do.

raspberryjamchicken · 02/04/2022 12:46

The guidance is still to isolate. If he Grandad feels comfortable seeing him that's up to him but don't send him to a crowded football match!

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 02/04/2022 12:47

Do you mean grandad had covid two weeks ago or have I misunderstood? If he has had it that recently, I think he's unlikely to get reinfected this quickly even if your DS is still contagious.

@raspberryjamchicken

The guidance is still to isolate. If he Grandad feels comfortable seeing him that's up to him but don't send him to a crowded football match!
Guidance in England now is to isolate for 5 days for adults, 3 days for children as long as no temperature.
raspberryjamchicken · 02/04/2022 12:53

Sorry, I misread the 8 days bit. I still wouldn't send him to a football match if still testing positive though. Other people's Grandads will probably be there.

Branleuse · 02/04/2022 12:59

would your ds wear a mask? Id let him go if he promised to wear a mask

Meltinthemiddle · 02/04/2022 13:00

Ds has had it for 8 days and feeling better. No temp. My dad had it 2 weeks ago. My dad seems cautious but wants to go still. If it weren't for the new guidance I would say no. But now it's saying 3 days I don't know what to do. I mean is that what the research is now saying? I'm so torn.

Let the kid go. Sounds like both he and Grandad need some down time after being sick. Your kid won't give it to him if he has just had it!

Branleuse · 02/04/2022 13:28

youve already done much more than youre legally obliged to do

Meltinthemiddle · 02/04/2022 13:34

Thank you I just wanted reassurance. If he hadn't already had it recently then I would have said no. But he will wear a mask still and keep away from others as much as possible although they will be outside apart from car journey.
