So I know there’s no free LFT’s anymore, except for certain people, but what else has changed today ?
Went on Gov.uk and it just says about the tests.

Nothing else has been announced yet, apparently there is going to be a statement later about tests for hospital staff, vulnerable and care home residents. Maybe an update on travel clarifying anything that needs it. I think there’s already been an update on education, but maybe some clarification will come out also about this.

GeneLovesJezebel · 01/04/2022 08:24

OK, thanks. Will watch out for it.

There's no free pcrs either don't forget.

SpringRainbow · 01/04/2022 09:10

No free PCR or LFT tests unless you are in certain groups, this applies to England and Wales.

Really ? I didn’t know that. How do you test with symptoms then, or don’t we test any more ?
OP posts:
MermaidEyes · 01/04/2022 09:12

I presume you just don't test any more?

clarkkentsglasses · 01/04/2022 09:16

You can test. You just have to pay for it.

SpringRainbow · 01/04/2022 10:10

If you are able to pay, then yes you can test.

If you can’t pay then if you are ‘advised’ to stay at home.

Lifeispassingby · 01/04/2022 10:34

The NHS website has updated info on it- stay at home if you have symptoms whilst you are unwell or have a temp. If you do test and are positive then stay at home for 5 days from the day after the test- no need to test again on day 5 or anything like that. Children it’s 3 days instead of 5

WhatHaveIFound · 01/04/2022 10:41

Luckily I managed to get some free tests from DS's school as my mum tested positive yesterday. I know contacts don't have to test daily any more but i'm due to fly next week so I'm not going to risk it.

Also antivirals - will you be told if you're eligble? Mum has chronic kidney disease but I spoke to her GP surgery yesterday and they didn't know anything about them.

Attictroll · 01/04/2022 11:05

My mum who is vulnerable has already been told she gets free tests and given a number to ring for antivirals. She also has a pcr that is in the house for as soon as she has symptoms. She is under the care of a Greater London cancer hospital so maybe that is different and she's quite forthright and good at asking as well. So push for clarity

I believe free LFTs will be available in Wales for symptomatic testing for a couple of months.

If you go to order LFTs (I need them on days I'm seeing people for healthcare) then it now asks you for your NHS trust and job role before letting you order them.

There's no option for healthcare students though on there - we were forgotten about as usual.

LindaEllen · 01/04/2022 11:36

Honestly, it kind of scares me that we get no free tests anymore. I'm involved in a group of people for a hobby which includes some vulnerable, and out of courtesy we had all been testing twice a week, before our meetings with the group.

I won't be paying for tests, as things are tough enough at the moment. But it's like, right now, I don't feel well. I've tested (with my remaining box of free tests) and negative.. but what about in the future? Stay home with any symptoms at all? This is going to be an absolute ball ache.

SpottyStripyDuvet · 01/04/2022 11:39

I was just reading the updated guidance as DS tested positive yesterday. They are now recommending that children are not tested at all except by a health professional. If they do test positive then children should avoid contact with others for 3 days. So it seems that DS can go back to school on Monday if he is well enough.

MossyBottom · 01/04/2022 14:32

I don't think anyone gets PCRs unless arranged by a hospital. @Attictroll That includes the ones held at home by certain vulnerable people.

Attictroll · 01/04/2022 14:58

Yes It was given to her by the hospital not a normal gp dr… they seem to think time is of the essence with working out if she has covid or not and they’ve talked of biking antiviral to her if positive.

Slug pellets are outlawed from today...

What has changed is the list of symptoms on the NHS website. After all this time not being reviewed, they are up for review again on the 15th April apparently.
Something is off, there...

JanglyBeads · 01/04/2022 22:30

I read that Boots are selling PCR tests as well as LFTs?
