black line on test

A relative has just sent me this lateral flow test result. Looks positive apart from the T line being mostly black.
Does anyone know why it would be black?
She's waiting for more kits to arrive so can redo.

It just looks really strongly positive to me

Unsureaboutit9 · 29/03/2022 14:07

It doesn’t look black in that photo, it’s just because the colour is so deep, It’s clearly a positive so I don’t think she needs to do more tests.

Plague

Wink

Seriously, hope they're OK.

Akite · 29/03/2022 14:09

It just looks like a very very strong positive, that's all.

Kinneddar · 29/03/2022 14:10

It's just a very strong positive. Colour is irrelevant

ZeroFuchsGiven · 29/03/2022 14:11

My dd's was darker than that, it was a really strong positive.

Howmanysleepsnow · 29/03/2022 14:14

That’s a very, very strong positive. They range from black to very pale pink depending on the amount of covid in the sample.

Bobbybobbins · 29/03/2022 14:16

Mine are like that too... on day 7 😭

Jules912 · 29/03/2022 14:16

That looks like my day 5 test.

Thanks everyone. The relative is my 96 year old grandmother, she's been feeling tired and breathless but not unusual for her. Then a friend got covid so she tested today.
Says she feels better than she did last week so fingers crossed for a good outcome.

I'd say it's a very strong positive.

At her age she may well be eligible for nMABs
TeloMere · 29/03/2022 15:17

whataballbag: - I was wondering about nMABs, but I think they need to be started at a very early stage. I've suggested she ask her GP.
She may have had covid for a while ( and could have given it to the friend who tested positive yesterday).
Says she felt like her lungs were being ripped apart last week but didn't say anything at the time, as "you expect to get aches and pains at my age".

Within the first 3 days is ideal. 111 can refer to CDMU 😊

In our family I had a really dark line like that whilst the rest had light lines. I was the least unwell by quite a considerable amount. Hopefully your grandmother is over the worst of it.
