Flying after recovering

Hi, we are due to travel to USA in two weeks time. Two of us have recently recovered from Covid so PCRs are no good prior to flying as we will likely still test positive

We are flying with Virgin who are being unhelpful in coming back to me, and their call wait time is nearly two hours

Does anyone know what to do?

Have you requested a covid recovery certificate?

Dollygirl2008 · 28/03/2022 19:23

Where do I request that from? There is so much conflicting advice and my doctors surgery couldn't help

As long as you did a PCR you can get it on the app.

A supervised lat flow the say before you fly is all you need, not a PCR. But if you are likely to still be positive on a lat flow, use the recovery certificate. Have fun!

You need to do a supervised (eg via video) lateral flow or PCR the day before you fly. You should easily be negative on a lateral flow by then, and it’s also much cheaper (about £30).

Yes you can also do a recovery certificate, but the NHS app one isn’t enough on its own; you need it to be certified by a registered medical company/ practitioner that’s accepted by the USA. The companies providing these are charging at least £60 upwards so in practice most people go for the cheaper lateral flow.

There are some really helpful Facebook groups with covid tests and travel regulations. Good luck!
