What is your NHS trust’s staff policy on Covid now?

DS has got Covid. He’s not sure what the staff policy is at the moment about Covid, as he says it’s been changing all the time. Obviously he’ll find out on Monday if he needs to stay off and/or how long for, but we are just wondering what other trusts are doing?

I'm assuming he works for the NHS and doesn't just plan to attend an appointment or visit someone? My trust is still do PCR (through the trust) then isolate until 2 negative results or 10 days.

Isolate until 2 negative, back to back, lateral flows tests or 10 days (I’m not actually sure if this is from symptom onset or positive test). Whichever comes first.

2 negative tests, 24 hrs apart on days 5&6 (or most likely later) or 10 days, with an occ health assessment if still positive on day 10.

Yes, he is staff!

Thank you all. Do you think I should tell him to get a PCR off the gov website or would he be better getting on through work on Monday?

And IME, the what to do if you have covid hasn’t changed so much. Barely at all since the intro of testing on days 5&6. It’s the close contact and what to do if you have symptoms/the symptom list that changes on an almost weekly basis.

My trust you don't need a PCR. You just need to do two negative tests in a row or get to 10 days isolation which ever comes first.

There should be a COVID guide on his NHS trust’s staff website but in my trust the policy is to stay off work until either two negative lfts on day 5 and day 6 (so back to work on day 7) or day 11 . Then there needs to be a staff risk assessment completed by the manager before returning to work.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay · 26/03/2022 15:49

If he has a positive on an LFT, then in our trust he wouldn’t need a PCR.

Mirrorball2022 · 26/03/2022 15:52

Stay off until two negative tests was up to 14 days of positive day ten but I’m not sure now. Earliest we can test is day 5/6 to come back day 7.

Still need a pcr I think but they do in-house testing for staff.

Not sure if it’s changed again, I’ve never had it and I’ll probably catch it when they get rid of isolation/sick rules exemption although I can’t see that while we are undergoing a new wave and increased cases in our trust. Still strict on little or no visiting too.

If he is clinical then he may consider contacting a manager or even the site manager for clarification. Some of the larger trusts have 7day access for staff PCR
