Does it take longer to get a negative if your test started very dark?

Or is it all a bit random?
I tested negative on Tuesday then positive with an almost black line yesterday. I’m feeling fairly rough.
I’ve an important work thing next week which I’d need to test negative by days 6 and 7 for.
Trying to work out if there’s much chance I can attend.

DH had a black line on his first test then negative days 5 & 6.
I had a fairly faint line on my first positive, still really solid by day 10.
we both had negative tests the day before our first positive.
So either the opposite is true (which might make sense if a faint line to start meant I was still on the way up) or it's random.

Thanks. Yes I guess it makes sense that a faint line could be an indication of early infection, and therefore that it would last longer. I wonder if it’s just inaccuracies of the test that I was negative on Tuesday rather than a faint line then.
