How long does immunity last?

I know lots of people who have had covid twice - usually the second time is a couple of months after the first time.

I recovered from COVID and tested negative last week. I was exposed to someone who has tested positive yesterday... I'm assuming that just a week since I had it I'm pretty immune...

what's the quickest people have caught it for the second time since having it the first time?

@GD12

Read a paper yesterday and the gist of it was that a mild infection of Omicron doesn't produce very high antibodies, even less in unvaccinated people.BA.2 is also different to original Omicron so it will evade the immune system to an extent of people that got it in Jan. I've a horrible feeling wer re going to go around in circles every few months with infections now. Hopefully we don't get a more severe variant again.
Do you have a link to the paper @GD12?

I take part in some research on vaccines / antibodies.

ucl-virus-watch.net/?page_id=913#4
Some data in para 4 on longevity of antibodies.

They didn't test children but the results seem to suggest that ABs from infection last longer in males and in over 50s

I'm really worried about people just getting covid over and over every few months. My symptoms weren't that bad, but I wouldn't want my parents to have to go through this repeatedly
