Does this sound like COVID?

Hi all,

On Thursday morning I had an appointment with my hypnotherapist - small, unventilated room and no masks worn. Guessing maybe two metres apart? I was there for about two hours - lots of deep breathing by me as he spoke....you know what's coming, right?!

Sunday afternoon I got a text from the hypnotherapist to say he's tested positive for COVID. He says symptoms only started on Saturday so he doesn't think I've been exposed. He's experiencing what feels like a heavy cold.

But AFAIK you're infectious a couple of days or so before symptoms appear? So it's entirely feasible that he could have passed it to me on Thursday?

And as of Sunday, I wasn't feeling very well. Sore throat, extreme fatigue, achy - slight congestion. It feels like I may have a very low-grade temperature but my thermometer is broken so I can't be sure. I've done three LFT tests, including swabbing my throat and all negative.

It's now Tuesday morning, I'm not getting any worse, no snottiness. Fatigue is definitely the worst symptom. I'm wiped.

For such a prolonged contact with a confirmed case, it's hard to think that these symptoms could be anything else but COVID. My mum is CEV so I'm very keen to avoid passing it to her. I'm also not thrilled about potentially giving it to DC - both are autistic and won't be vaccinated - and they don't cope well with being ill.

I've not returned to any kind of socialising - this appt was the first time I've been mask-free and indoors with anyone so it's bloody typical. The only places I go are the supermarkets (wearing a FFP2 mask). I WFH and DC are home educated now. I did have a GP appt last Tuesday but other than that I've not been anywhere to pick anything up.

Is it reasonable to book a PCR? Do you think this sounds like COVID? I definitely don't feel right in myself.

Yes, book a pcr

BeanStew22 · 22/03/2022 07:43

Yes book a PCR: the fatigue is a v telling symptom unfortunately

fortyfourfeasts · 22/03/2022 09:07

Yep. Sounds exactly like Covid. Sorry.

Lindy2 · 22/03/2022 09:17

Yes you need a PCR test.

You've been exposed to someone who was infectious with Covid and now you have Covid symptoms.

I hope you feel better soon.

Garfieldismyspiritanimal · 22/03/2022 10:02

Yes

Fatigue was my most prominent symptom for the first couple of days. In your position I would act as if I had covid (ie stay away from people as much as I could and definitely avoid seeing anyone CEV).

I hope you feel better soon OP. Get as much rest as possible and don't try to power through.

Thank you all. I've booked a PCR for this afternoon. I wasn't sure if I was making a fuss.

I'm self-employed and got two SEN DC so I can't really take it that easy unfortunately. I'll stay away from my DM though, I don't want her to be exposed.

I just walked into the kitchen to get a drink and it's the weirdest feeling - it's like walking through concrete, it feels like such effort to move!

We live in a really small house so nowhere to hide really - yesterday my DS was licking my arm and stroking my face while I was trying to work. There's absolutely zero chance of isolating from him unfortunately, he's like an overgrown toddler who's constantly touching me, so I'll just have to hope he doesn't get it too badly 😕

Shite.

Will update here when I get the PCR result.

Oh, just as an aside, have had a weird tummy for the last 24 hours too. No appetite but needing the bathroom, but not norovirus or anything like that.

Dodgy tummy is also latest version of Covid
