What’s the shortest gap you know of for getting covid a second time?

Friend of mine had it at Xmas and caught it again end of Feb. So two months. Had symptoms both times, was negative in between episodes. Positive LFT both times, and possibly positive pcr….not sure.

There was someone on here whose DS tested positive again after two weeks with negative tests in between and new symptoms.

I last had it mid January, tested positive again ten days ago.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 21/03/2022 20:49

7/8 days! Absurd. But a whole week of negative tests between positive again!

cantkeepawayforever · 21/03/2022 20:58

5-6 weeks appears to be normal round here at the moment. End of January to start March is the shortest I am aware of so far.

ParisNext · 21/03/2022 20:59

Just short of 6 weeks

bluechameleon · 21/03/2022 21:01

I'm on my 2nd bout in just under 2 months.

Joolsin · 21/03/2022 21:01

Child in school has it again after 5 weeks

2boysand1princess · 21/03/2022 21:09

4-5 weeks. But was delta then omricon. Don’t know anyone who has had covid twice after omricon became the dominant strain

DialsMavis · 21/03/2022 21:15

DD had what we assume to be Omicron at Christmas and then again towards the end of February

SpikyJugs · 21/03/2022 21:50

For those who have had it a second time, were your symptoms similar? Or milder?

I've just had it for the first time. My DP had it in November, and caught it again for a second time the same time as I did. But he took longer to show up positive, had milder symptoms and tested negative before I did. So that gave me some hope that the second time around would be milder.

What are other people's experiences?

TheBolterdahling · 21/03/2022 22:04

DD had it Xmas and now again.

aibutohavethisusername · 21/03/2022 22:09

My Mum had it twice in 3 weeks.

SallyWD · 22/03/2022 03:40

I'm on my 2nd bout. 2 months to the day since I was last positive. Really fed up.

chillinwithmygnomies · 22/03/2022 03:44

My ds had it in early December and then again early February

SexiestDogWalker · 22/03/2022 04:02

I tested positive at the end of January. Mild to no symptoms. I tested positive three days ago and it has me on my ass. Airway swelling, horrible cough, headache, aching joints, throat that feels like I've been forced to swallow broken glass and gargle with battery acid... I'm awake now because I'm coughing too much to stay asleep

CakesOfVersailles · 22/03/2022 04:13

20 days. Don't personally know the person, this was in a pre-print of a paper I was reading for work.

Runaway1 · 25/03/2022 20:23

End of Jan to mid-March here. Second time was milder and got a day 5 negative, whereas it lasted the full 10 days the first time.

CC1991 · 25/03/2022 22:29

Had 2 positive LFTs 10 days apart, with a couple of negatives in between! Both of my ‘confirmatory’ PCRs were negative, though.

Moppincraxy · 25/03/2022 22:31

6 weeks

SpikyJugs · 25/03/2022 23:59

Urgh, I'm all recovered from my first bout now and I really can't face getting it again. it was Ok, but it did mess up my work for a week because I was so knackered.

LegallyBlende · 26/03/2022 00:05

6 weeks but different strains

Rainbowsandstorms · 26/03/2022 01:23

My daughter had it mid December then again 5 weeks later. Negative lfts for the weeks in between but I assume Delta then omicron. I’m dreading us getting it again. You barely would have known she had it second time around.

Whathefisgoingon · 26/03/2022 12:52

Reinfection with Omicron is supposedly rare. It’s much more likely those being reinfected so soon had Delta before.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 26/03/2022 16:16

Friend had it for 2nd time in January and has just tested positive for a 3rd time.

That’s not what I’m hearing, what’s your source? Mine is a U.K. health agency.
