What is your school's policy on Covid/attendance?

I have two children, one at secondary, one at primary.

The primary's rules are that children can't come back until day 6 earliest, if two negative tests.

No rules at the secondary - it's basically if you're feeling well enough, you can go in.

Which of these is more common? Or do other schools have different rules entirely?

Our school still advises taking a PCR and whole household isolates (Scotland).

Both primary & secondary want 10 days off or two negative tests.
Secondary wanted pcr test too.

10 days off or 2 negative tests for my kids primary. DS just went back on day 9 after finally getting his two tests.

Comefromaway · 21/03/2022 15:40

Come in if you feel well enough.

ellesbellesxxx · 21/03/2022 15:57

Isolate then get two negative tests day 5/6 to come back

SherryDerry · 21/03/2022 16:02

Secondary - feel fine, can go in
Primary - negative LTFs on days 5/6

Neena86 · 21/03/2022 16:03

Don't come in until you get 2 neg tests in primary. My youngest is currently off with it for the second time in 9 weeks! Luckily I'm off work on annual leave because I've got it too for the second time! Hopefully she's ok for Fri because I'm back at work and my mum is in hospital.

If you know they have been exposed or otherwise suspect illness, the child can either stay home for 10 days or come to school early each morning to test outdoors. If the test is negative, they can attend school that day. (Not in the uk)

Primary - isolate then get two negative tests day 5/6 to come back. So daughter had whole week off, and only had symptoms on day 1 (headache, tired).

Sibling can go to school as normal as long as daily LF tests are negative.

Kage30 · 21/03/2022 16:25

Primary age kids - been told to keep them off if positive as you would have before! Thing is, a lot of people aren't you testing so most don't know they have it or not anymore!

Lilaclavenders · 21/03/2022 16:31

Come in if you feel well!

Lilaclavenders · 21/03/2022 16:33

This.

But it shouldn't really matter - you shouldn't be forced to isolate for up to 10 days if you're asymptomatic.

catsandquails · 21/03/2022 16:39

Both schools- one secondary one primary- are asking children to isolate until they have two negative tests 24hrs apart, or 10 days.

I can go back to work after one negative test. (Nursery)

MargosKaftan · 21/03/2022 16:57

Come to school if you feel well enough, but we'd prefer if you didn't.

The school I work at just wants us in if we are fit to work, positive or not. Our choice we we wear masks.

raspberryjamchicken · 21/03/2022 16:59

All schools should be continuing to follow the DfE guidance which remains unchanged - isolate until at least day 6 then come in after two negative tests.

Januarypip · 21/03/2022 17:02

DfE advice which schools should be following remains unchanged. 10 days or come in from day 6 if two negative tests.

I agree that most people are not testing though even when they suspect covid

user1471509171 · 21/03/2022 18:36

We follow due guidelines but have had a few parents send their kids positive and refused to collect. Because it's not illegal not much we can do Hmm
