So I'm on day 3, I have a cough but it's not constant but when it does I can't get rid of it for like 30 mins and am coughing green mucus, I have slight chest pain, I have diarrhoea and sickness, sinus pain, I'm a bit wheezy too, im a bit drowsy too at times. I do have 2 underlying conditions so am a bit more wary and was classed as CEV during pandemic! Just wondering when I get help?

What sort of help do you mean? Have you contacted anyone to let them know you need help?

If you cant control your temperature using paracetamol/ibruphrophen (ie temp of 39 and over that wont come down).

If your blood o2 drops (do you have an oximeter?). Blood 02 93-91 call your gp, 90 or below 999, 94 or above us fine.

If you think you might have a blood clot.

If you arecCEV then you might qualify for anti viral medication - call 111

MrsSkylerWhite · 21/03/2022 12:19

Talk to your GP, ours was very helpful.
Do you have an oximeter (spelling?). GP said if saturation falls below 93, call 111.

Your gp would be better placed for advice on this, but as a vulnerable person I was told if my breathing was impacted I would need further help. Otherwise I was told if I get it, inform the gp by phone and they will basically give advice further as needed. I haven’t had it to my knowledge yet but from what I gathered in my case anyway it was treat any symptoms myself unless they got unmanageable. It could be though that you potentially in the future will be offered medications at the onset of it to stop it getting really bad. Not sure if this is happening yet someone with more knowledge will hopefully stop by!

Unless you are breathless or unable to take on fluids, I'm not sure you need help per se but your within thr 5 day window for antivirals if your eligible so if you are call your doctor and ask for a paxlovid prescription.

beattieedny · 21/03/2022 12:25

In your position, I'd be inclined to call your surgery and ask for advice.

Spudina · 21/03/2022 12:32

You may be eligible for either the antivirals or the antibody treatment if you are CEV. But you have to hurry as you can only have it up to Day 5.
Aside from that, try steaming to bring up the mucous. I have a flutter device that helps do this. Speak to your GP surgery. They could send off your sputum to see if you have a bacterial on top of the viral infection.

I have Covid at the moment and am also asthmatic and CEV.

I know you've said you don't have a pulse oximeter at home, would someone be able to pick one up for you? Or get one delivered by tomorrow? My GP advised me to get one at the beginning of the pandemic and I've been monitoring my oxygen using it.

Do you have a Peak Flow meter at home? Again, this is useful for self monitoring. I presume you have an asthma action plan in place already for when to call the GP or 999 with asthma symptoms?

I've been feeling pretty similar to you, but can see that although both my oxygen saturation and peak flow are lower than normal they are staying above the "danger zone" so I'm happy to manage symptoms myself at the moment.

I would suggest giving the GP a ring and asking for advice, and if possible getting set up so that you can monitor at home.

Thanks, I'm not 100% wit it currently.

Did you manage to speak to your GP @immy7853?

immy7853 · 21/03/2022 18:23

@JemimaMuddledUp I couldn't get to speak to a doctor, all telephone appointments had gone!
