Is a really, really faint line still a positive?

Day 6 and I can see the faintest of lines on my test, I have to get really close to see it but it’s there. Does that still count as a positive? Apart from being a bit tired I have no symptoms.

Yes

Nosetickle · 20/03/2022 13:49

Ok thanks.

Yes if it appeared in the time window.

SummersBreeze · 20/03/2022 14:05

Do you have a picture of your test? Please share because I want to see. I am in the similar boat.

I had a close contact last week and towards the end of the week before last. I developed some symptoms of cold since Wednesday. Never once got a positive line on a test. My symptoms seems to be clearing now. I'm not even going to test again today or even tomorrow and hope to god it's not covid and I hope I didn't exposedm my family. I'm becoming more careless with the bedroom isolation but I am not coughing as much now and when I do cough,I am being mindful.

I’ve tired to take a picture but you can’t even see the line in any of the pictures because it’s so faint. I first tested positive 8 days ago not 6, I miscalculated.

Maybe you can see it a bit in this one?

Yup. That’s positive

Kage30 · 20/03/2022 14:28

Yes if it showed up within 30 minutes. A line is a line. Chances are a very thin line will be negative tomorrow but no guarantee of that!

Nosetickle · 20/03/2022 14:31

Ok thank you for your help.

Yes, I see it. That’s still a positive I’m afraid ☹️

Trunumber · 20/03/2022 14:54

Yeah but it'll be negative tomorrow at least if that helps

Bedsheets4knickers · 20/03/2022 17:20

I've been feeling unwell since last Tuesday . Testing negative until Friday . Got a positive Friday evening but light abit stronger than your test but still faint . Sat morn tested negative . Felt rough all day today . V strong positive . It's sent me loopy this week .

I'm ready to fire the rest of the packet of tests into the bin.

I'm done with covid, testing and isolation.

I cant see a line. But does it matter if you feel
Ok? Genuine question?

From next month, it's fine to go out as long as you feel ok.

I think there are still some of us that want to protect others from catching it and also some that are bound by the wishes of schools etc.

I don’t want to potentially infect others if I’m still contagious. I have felt absolutely fine for the past few days even when there was quite a strong positive result.

Yes in my experience. Was darker the next day

DingDongtheWitchisDrunk · 20/03/2022 18:50

I totally get that. And agree with not exposing the vulnerable. But I won't be buying tests, so if I get unwell, I will only be staying in for the days I'm unwell.

My point is that I can't see a line in OP's photo and she feels fine. So why stay in? From next month, you won't know you have it, and surely won't stay in if you're feeling fine.

Nosetickle · 20/03/2022 18:55

You can still get tests for free at the moment and while I can I will do my best to stop the spread.

Makes sense. I can't see a line. But a few other PP have. So maybe just err on side of caution.

Nosetickle · 21/03/2022 15:17

It was a definite positive today!

That's amazing. Are you still without symptoms?

I'm day 6 with symptoms. All mildish. Cough is on and off and can be intense and annoying. Tested negative on home tests throughout.

Decided to stop testing and go about as normal.

I read that people are contagious in the two days before and after testing positive.

Whatalovelydaffodil · 21/03/2022 18:02

Yes of course it is

Nosetickle · 21/03/2022 20:56

Yes still without symptoms @summersBreeze. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. It’s a weird old thing!
