Me too, thought I was one of the naturally immune, ha! I'm on day 2 (although woke Friday morning with a burning sensation at the top of my lungs I didn't actually test positive until yesterday) and I feel shivery all over, knackered but apart from that it's just like a mild cold/cough. I did try to spend some time tidying the garden but I'm back in bed now!

cptartapp · 20/03/2022 17:28

I would have said I'd never had it either too. Only an antibody test through work tells a different story. I have indeed have Covid. But no idea when.
Probably many thousands the same.

longlivetheking · 20/03/2022 17:32

I have it for the first time too! Felt awful Tuesday but was out of LFTs got some Thursday and was positive. Have been more or less sofa-bound until today

SandyDays · 20/03/2022 17:34

Same for me, 2 years with no one in the household catching it, but I have it now. Much worse than just a cold, on day 8 and still feeling so tired. Head hurts and I can feel when the cold and flu meds are wearing off
Happy recovery to everyone

Iamblossom · 20/03/2022 17:49

Yep I have swerved it the whole time too, and tested positive this morning. Only tested as I never get ill and thought the cold symptoms I have would probably be covid. I have burning eyes, streaming nose, headache, foggy head, no energy. Couldn't understand why my 10km run yesterday was so hard....

I've been in London in the office and then at a drinks do Thursday night, pub Friday night with neighbours, saw cousins, my dad, sister and nieces and nephew yesterday afternoon and we were at dinner with 2 other couples in a packed restaurant last night. I don't think I could have been with more people if I'd tried.

sugarapplelane · 20/03/2022 17:52

Yep - me too. Caught it last week for the first time.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 20/03/2022 17:58

Got me this week. Came back from France with it. Wish I'd worn my mask more but I think it was inevitable really.

mrsprefect · 20/03/2022 18:11

Another one! Gutted to discover I'm not as magically immune as I thought

Badbadbunny · 20/03/2022 19:56

Can't believe so many people shocked they've caught covid. Perhaps they should have continued to wear masks and social distance etc., and maybe avoided busy/crowded places if they didn't want to catch it. It's inevitable that more people will catch it when very few are taking any precautions.

I still wear masks and do social distancing and avoid all busy places. I caught it from DH.
DeadButDelicious · 20/03/2022 20:28

Yup, I avoided it all this time and got it. I'm not even sure where from! My parents have it, friends who have also avoided it for 2 years are getting it. My fb feed is a litany of positive LFT's.

MsTSwift · 20/03/2022 20:58

Me too - was feeling smug and invincible now in bed!

Sapphireskies · 21/03/2022 00:17

It's going around so easily and quickly!

@MrsAmber Keep getting him to test- I was testing negative Friday and Saturday, and then Saturday night I had a faint positive, and then Sunday morning it was as bright red as Rudolph's nose.

@MairzyDoats I thought I was naturally immune as well 🥲

🙋🏻‍♀️ another person to add to the list of those who have never had covid before but got it this week. Myself, dh and both dc had somehow avoided it for the past two years. Then last Wednesday I went down with it, and today dh and both kids have positive test results back. I'm just glad it happened now rather than earlier in the pandemic because I have been so ill since Wednesday, which I was not expecting for this particular variant. I was expecting a mild cold like illness and instead I've been bed bound for days. The original covid strain must have been hellish.

LynetteScavo · 21/03/2022 05:55

DH managed to avoid it for two years until this week. We couldn't understand how he didn't catch it off me last autumn - he's now given it to me. DD still seems to be immune (touch wood)

Riseholme · 21/03/2022 06:45

I know so many people with covid now whereas a year ago I didn’t.
I think it’s a combination of no precautions and the vaccine wearing off a bit.
I had a shocking cold last week but tested negative for covid after 3 days and then didn’t test again so who knows.
I think we’ll all be offered another booster come September.

LostStars39 · 21/03/2022 14:12

How are we all feeling today? I’m on day 6 and actually feel a bit worse today, sneezing a starting again, my throats gone really sore again and the standard no energy.
I also live alone so I’m just feeling very lonely and bored also!

shiningstar2 · 21/03/2022 14:19

I feel as though I have it. Was totally wiped out last week and have cough, dry throat and running nose last three days. But have tested negative 3 times so hopefully just a cold. Trying to be sure though before visiting Mt mother . a very for, active, car driving 91 year old. Don't want to risk her by assuming.

shiningstar2 · 21/03/2022 14:19

Very fit not for 😃

Iamblossom · 21/03/2022 18:56

Still very heavy cold symptoms here, nose running like a tap, headache, brain fog, sneezing. Is this day 2 if I tested positive for the first time yesterday?

ladygindiva · 21/03/2022 18:58

same here, dodged it for 2 years. I've got off lightly so far, day 6 and tiredness and stuffy nose days 2 to 4 only real symptoms.

beenaroundtheblox · 21/03/2022 18:58

Hayley is that you?

AffIt · 21/03/2022 19:01

@Santaslittlemelter

Every single person who avoided it the last two years has it this week😂 including me, sister, DH and a load of other people I know.
And me and OH - I'm mildly disappointed, I was beginning to think I had some kind of superpower. Grin

Started with cold symptoms on the Tuesday evening, a couple of days of feeling a bit shivery / snotty / bunged up, but was absolutely fine by Monday.

I've been left with a bit of a dry cough, but that's normal for me after a cold, anyway - I'd expect it to hang around for a couple of weeks.

OH is the same, although he was a couple of days behind me.

Definitely not bad enough to stay in bed, fortunately / unfortunately - continued working (from home - I'm FT remote anyway) throughout.
