How likely is it to catch it again in 8 weeks?

Hi all, I tested positive 8 weeks ago to the day. I presume it was omicron because I was completely asymptomatic throughout. DP somehow managed to avoid is despite taking no preventative measures whatsoever.

Yesterday he started with a cold and scratchy throat and tested positive on LFT. Today woke up with a hideous cold. Usually I would just say it is what it is but I have to be somewhere important that requires me to produce a negative covid test that I have to take in 8 days. All the literature I’ve found says I shouldn’t be taking one within 90 days as can still test positive (have shown them my last covid positive), but of course have to show a negative test.

Does anyone know the likelihood of catching it again so soon, can’t seem to find anything apart from immunity for three months but I have seen some people say they caught it twice in a month! Trying my best to distance from him now but obviously haven’t the past few days.

Lots of people are getting it again quickly. Two of my colleagues have had it 5 and 6 weeks apart. Their lateral flows were negative in between and they have similar symptoms both times. Both vaccinated, but NHS so quite a while since last vaccine.

Do a lateral flow now?

Lateral flows dont pick up old infections so if it's positive you have covid again.

If you had it 8 weeks ago you could get it again as there are two variants of omicron in circulation.

My dd has tested positive this week after almost exactly 8 weeks, good news is her tests went negative much quicker this time

Sorry I forgot to say currently negative tested both yesterday and today so crossing my fingers!

But my PCR isn’t until a week tomorrow so still have plenty of time to catch it. Have banished myself to another room and just hoping for the best. Confused

Well my DS got it again in 5.5 weeks. I know lots of reinfections at the moment. Clear LFs in between, new and different symptoms for reinfection. Mostly heavy colds second time. Taking 2/3 days after symptoms to start to get +LF

I had it twice within 7 weeks.

I tested positive on 1st January and again 18th February - two separate infections.

Like OP, I too need to keep Covid free right now (for medical reasons).

I'm worried about catching it a 3rd time, as it's more common with these new variants.

Got 4 lively children and DH here which doesn't help.

Hopefully we'll be okay, OP.

The pollen count where I am is sky high today so try an antihistamine if lft is negative.
