What are you doing now when you're positive?

My mum is positive as of today. I love with her with my children so I'm expecting our positive could be on its way! Anyway I know the guidelines around isolation are scrapped... but I just wondered generally what people are doing? Are you waiting u til you have a negative test? Waiting 5 days? Or just doing your own thing?
I'm not sure morally what to do!

I've been going out for walks daily but not going shopping/meeting up with anyone indoors. I did need something from the shop today and there's nobody here so I popped in with a mask on to get it.

So I'm not ignoring the fact that I have covid, but I'm not locking myself away either.

bibbidybobbidyboo · 17/03/2022 14:28

Pretty much same as poster above - I've stayed at home and cancelled social plans since then but still have been for some walks and popped to the corner shop once (with a mask).

Coming out of the other end of it now, planning on easing back to normal tomorrow (10 days since symptoms started & they're basically gone now)

Frosty1000 · 17/03/2022 14:29

Tested positive Sunday, but I've not done anything as I've been so poorly. My line is still dark so I doubt I'll be out on day 6.

As I feel better I'll possibly go for a walk, I may have to do school run if current negative dh gets it but I won't go to a shop or anything until I get my negative or its day 10.

I wfh anyway so when I go back after sick leave it's not an outing for me.

SLH2003 · 17/03/2022 14:30

I'm gonna wait till I feel better for a start 🤣

All 4 of us here have covid and are on different days. We’ve all been ill, so couldn’t go out and about even if we wanted to. We have a dog so are taking turns in walking him, which does help to get some exercise and fresh air. Apart from that, we’re not really very hungry so just eating what we have in the house. My 2 adult sons have done day 5 and 6 tests, but still positive, so we are not bothering as we aren’t going anywhere and I only have a small supply of lft.

irregularegular · 17/03/2022 14:39

I'm working from home. Going outside by myself, not into shops (I have no reason to - I guess I might if I was desperate). Keeping distance from the rest of household as far as possible. I will follow the old rule of two negative tests or 10 days. I only really felt properly unwell (high temp etc) on the day I tested. Still have a cough and a bit tired but nothing too serious.

Cupcakegirl13 · 17/03/2022 14:39

I’ve felt rough so haven’t felt like going out but have done school runs and once to corner shop masked up for pain relief. As I feel better I’ll go out but if I’m still with symptoms won’t go to crowded places or socialising until at least a week or so.

Ah I see so most are waiting for around day 5/when feeling better.

I remember previously if you hadn't got a negative by day 5 you had to wait h til day 10 and then could do what you wanted despite result so I'm just thinking if you're waiting for the result you could be waiting a long time! Does that makes sense?

I was going to start my own thread on similar to this. Having waited for 2 years to catch it. I am now quite underwhelmed at how un-ill I feel. The guilt is far worse, sitting around watching Netflix, off work knowing that my work is under staffed and I'm putting pressure on them by not being there. I completely understand that I need to isolate, as someone else could catch this from me and become very ill but the guilt of doing nothing is horrible. I have taken the dog for a walk to an empty beach and continue to care for my dc with hugs and kisses but I'm going to keep away from public areas at least till after the weekend.

busyeatingbiscuits · 17/03/2022 14:49

The guidelines haven’t been scrapped by the way, they’re still the same - you just won’t be fined for not following them.

MonkeyPuddle · 17/03/2022 14:50

I’m off work with covid at the minute. I’m a community nurse so test myself with LFTs a few times a week anyway, first time I’ve caught it. Tested positive yesterday, staying home myself but DP and DS are doing daily tests before they leave the house.
Frankly I feel pretty shit, bad head cold with intense back pain.

Jules912 · 17/03/2022 15:16

I had thought I'd go for a walk but not go inside shops etc or anywhere busy but I'm too sick to do anything.

BogRollBOGOF · 17/03/2022 15:59

I took DS out for walks and bike rides in quiet places. Avoided anything indoors.
Not sure on exact days but kept him off school until Friday when his line was a faint squinter and sent him back on Monday. With the weekend, it wasn't worth wasting tests.

BlackInk · 18/03/2022 10:08

DD is on Day 8 and still testing positive, but will go back to school on Monday (Day 11).

She was too ill to fo anywhere for 3 or 4 days but yesterday I left her in the car (she's 10) whilst I did supermarket shopping then took her for a walk in the countryside.

As a very close contact I've been avoiding close contact with people outside my household and avoiding indoor crowded places. Mask on in shops. I haven't caught it yet!

Basically, we're following the guidelines but I know lots of people aren't.
