If you aren't taking your children to school because they have covid and school have said they have to stay off, are you taking them out and about. I don't just mean to the park at quiet times I mean to after school activities, shopping etc.
Two of my four have covid and three people have asked why DD1 isn't at gymnastics (Squad so goes 4 times a week normally) because you no longer have to isolate. One of her friends said your mum is mean keeping you in you know you don't have to stay in anymore.
DD1 now with no symptoms, the other with cold symtoms.

Nope, ds is day 5 today and still positive. We're waiting for those elusive 2 negative tests to get back to school. He's well in himself now but was very poorly over weekend but no I'm not taking him to after school stuff.

I'm doing what I feel we're comfortable with, guidance wise and staying away from crowds. The removal of legal obligation hasn't made covid, it's transmissibility and how it affects people gone away.

It's not just a cold as I have it and am quite poorly.

Do what's best for you.

I would isolate wherever possible, the government decision to remove isolation is believed to be the cause of the rapidly rising hospitalisation rate. Personaly I prefer to isolate where possible. Plus resting is believed to be helpful in avoiding longer lasting symptoms.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 16/03/2022 17:52

Nope I wouldn’t. I have covid and when I feel better I will go out for a walk for not to crowded places and definitely not indoors.

BluebellsGreenbells · 16/03/2022 18:36

It’s no longer law but the advice is to stay away from others if you test positive.

Same as chicken pox, you stay away to stop others catching it and becoming unwell.

Jules912 · 16/03/2022 18:49

No, DS is better and driving me up the wall but the guidance is there for a reason so not taking him to any groups ( not even the one I suspect he got it from). In fact my negative DD has missed a couple as there was no one to take her.

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 16/03/2022 20:07

No I wouldn't take to groups etc.

MsMartini · 16/03/2022 22:48

The guidance is clear.

I would go for solo walks at quiet times (outdoor exercise on your own is mentioned) but would not do anything indoors. The fact it is no longer law means the guidance can be more nuanced (and evidence-based, given the low risk of outdoor transmission if you stay away from people) but the facts about how the virus transmits haven't changed.

Nope waiting till day 5/6 negatives or until we get a negative from then on. Our gymnastics won’t allow us if we have covid, even if they r off school poorly then we shouldn’t be taking them to gym either which I agree with. Mine have been fairly poorly with covid so I would hope others do the same as it’s not worth it. You don’t legally have to isolate but morally I would stick with the guidance. There is no legal obligation to stay at home with sickness or chicken pox or any other contagious illness either but the majority would still stay away from places so they don’t pass it on.

On the other hand you wouldn’t stay home with a cough or the sniffles which is all covid is for some. Soon testing won’t be free so those with minor symptoms prob won’t test and therefore pass it on anyway. Have to just use your common sense

DD1 is currently positive. She's not allowed at school or on the school premises so DD2 is having to be taken and collected by a family member. I have been taking her on dog walks though and avoiding people whilst we are walking them.
